Performance Module - Future Enhancements

Scope

  • hardening and refinement of measurement/optimization runtime behavior
  • deterministic reliability improvements for adaptive and hardware-aware paths
  • stronger benchmark-backed guardrails for performance hot paths

Design Constraints

  • performance contracts remain backward compatible within major release line.
  • optimization and fallback behavior remains explicit and deterministic.
  • measurement/profiling/export behavior remains bounded and observable.
  • hardware-dependent degradation remains explicit and non-silent.

Required Interfaces

Interface Requirement
measurement interfaces deterministic timing/profiling capture semantics
optimization interfaces bounded adaptive strategy and feature-toggle semantics
memory/cache interfaces stable NUMA/cache behavior under load
hardware interfaces capability-aware dispatch and fallback contracts

Implementation Notes

  • tighten parity between workload prediction and adaptive strategy execution.
  • standardize diagnostics for tuning, profiling, and hardware fallback incidents.
  • expand resilience tests for prolonged mixed-workload operation.
  • broaden benchmark depth for distributed/high-contention performance paths.

Test Strategy

  • unit and integration suites for measurement, optimization, and fallback behavior.
  • regressions for malformed tuning input and unsupported hardware scenarios.
  • deterministic stress runs for high-throughput and high-contention performance operations.
  • release-profile benchmark runs for mapped performance targets.

Performance Targets

  • performance hot paths remain inside regression budgets.
  • measurement/export operations remain stable at p95/p99 envelopes.
  • mapped benchmark manifests reach no-missing-case status for release gating.

Security / Reliability

  • maintain strict feature gating for low-level measurement/hardware paths.
  • preserve explicit failure signaling for unsupported capability states.
  • enforce bounded behavior under malformed configuration input.
  • keep diagnostics actionable for production performance incidents.
