Window per workbook (1/4): a cell draft stays in its workbook; Switch Windows - #2616
With several workbooks open, a cell being edited belongs to the workbook it was started in, and View › Window › Switch Windows lists the open workbooks.
This is the first of four stacked PRs that give each workbook its own window: #2616, #2617, #2618, #2619. It has no craft-libs change and can merge on its own.
What changes
A cell draft stays in its workbook. Every file.* and window command settles an open cell draft first, as Enter would: it commits into the workbook the draft was started in, even when another workbook is showing. If the draft can't commit (a validation Stop, a bad formula, a protected cell), the command stops, the draft stays open and its reason shows. An F2 draft nobody changed closes without writing the cell, so it doesn't mark the workbook unsaved.
Switch Windows.view.switchWindows (no undo) lists the open workbooks as {index, doc, title, dirty, active, hidden} and with {doc} activates one. View › Window has a Switch Windows dropdown after Freeze Panes: the active workbook is checked and an unsaved one is marked. On macOS the Window menu lists the workbooks too.
Scripts. A stored script already can't run window.* steps. It now also refuses view.switchWindows, view.newWindow, view.hideWindow and view.unhideWindow, which switch the active workbook too.
Quit on macOS goes through the app's own Quit item (Cmd+Q), so the save prompt runs for each unsaved workbook.
Overlap
#2325 also adds Switch Windows and window commands, identifying a window by its document. #2617 gives each window an id of its own, separate from its document, because New Window puts two windows on one workbook.
Checks
Tests: a draft started in Book1 stays in Book1 after a switch; a refused draft stops the switch and stays open; an untouched F2 draft leaves the workbook clean; the quit prompt asks once per unsaved workbook. The stack was tested by hand on macOS at its top (#2619).

New Features
Switch between open workbooks from View › Switch Windows or the macOS Window menu. The list marks the active workbook and indicates unsaved changes.
When you switch workbooks or use supported file and window commands, your current cell edit is applied to its workbook first. If the edit can’t be applied, it stays open and the requested action is stopped.
Quitting on macOS now prompts you to save or discard changes for each unsaved workbook, or cancel quitting.
…rkbooks
A cell being typed when File > New ran (macOS menu, control channel) stayed
open over the new workbook, and Enter wrote it there; the first workbook
stayed clean and nothing in the UI reached it.
- Every file.* and window command (window.activate, view.newWindow,
view.hideWindow, view.unhideWindow, view.switchWindows with a doc) first
commits the cell and text-box drafts as Enter would, or drops a draft its
workbook refuses, still reporting why. Finder, argv and dropped opens go
through file.open and get the same.
- The cell editor records its workbook's uid; the grid draws a draft only
over that workbook, and a commit always goes into it.
- view.switchWindows takes a `doc` uid to bring that workbook forward and
lists index, doc, title, dirty, active and hidden. Menu-style calls with
no doc open the View tab's new Switch Windows dropdown.
- macOS: the Window menu lists the open workbooks (unsaved bullet, active
check), and Quit closes the window so unsaved workbooks are asked about.
… nothing
- File and window commands stop when the workbook refuses the cell or
text-box draft (validation Stop, bad formula, protected text box): the
draft stays open in its cell with the reason shown, to fix or Esc. The
per-frame backstop brings a refused draft's workbook back to the front.
- An F2 draft committed with its text unchanged writes nothing: no undo
step, and the workbook stays clean through Save, Print or New.
- macOS Window menu: the active workbook's check is put back every poll,
since choosing a check item flips it.
Scripts can't run the View tab's window commands (Switch Windows, New Window, Hide, Unhide):
they change the active workbook, as window.* steps do. The Switch Windows button names its
accessibility role with egui::Role (egui 0.37).
The change adds stable-ID workbook switching, workbook lists in the View tab and macOS Window menu, and cell-draft handling tied to each workbook. Specified file and window commands settle active drafts before they run.

Stable workbook IDs and switch command crates/engine/src/lib.rs, crates/engine/src/cmd/extra.rs, crates/engine/src/tests.rs
Session can locate an open workbook by stable ID. view.switchWindows lists workbook IDs and state, activates a workbook by ID, and returns an error for invalid IDs. Script validation rejects the named window-management commands.

Cell drafts store their workbook ID and original text. Draft commits target their owning workbook; unchanged untouched drafts are discarded without writing. Specified commands stop when a cell draft cannot be committed. Tests cover draft commits, refused switches, and untouched drafts.
The View popup and macOS Window menu list open workbooks and dispatch selection by ID. Dirty workbooks receive a trailing bullet in their labels. The macOS Quit item uses app.quit. Tests and documentation cover workbook switching and unsaved-workbook handling.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 380be
The feature is mergeable, but the WW test should verify that the workbook popup appears.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 380be
The inspected paths preserve workbook ownership, validate workbook selections, and prevent stored scripts from using the new switching capability. No introduced security weakness was established. Residual risk is low because native-event sequencing and combined failure cases have only bounded source verification.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The inspected new selection capability addresses workbooks already open in the same application session. Its material containment boundary is workbook state ownership: an incorrect transition could affect another open workbook, but the inspected selection path does not itself establish additional filesystem, service, or credential authority.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Draft settlement resolves the owning workbook before formula canonicalization, Stop validation, sheet activation, and cell.set. It does not write directly into whichever workbook happens to be visible. Formula, validation, and engine-write failures restore the draft and stop the requested file or window command.
observed — Workbook-controlled stored scripts encounter a pre-execution command restriction rather than inheriting the interactive picker's cross-workbook authority. Tests explicitly exercise rejection of window.activate and view.switchWindows; individual tests for every newly denied view command were not established.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Settlement and the requested command are ordered operations, not one transaction. A draft can commit successfully before the subsequent command rejects its parameters. Failed draft commits retain their owner identity for another attempt, while successful commits remove the draft, preventing a later invocation from replaying that same edit.

Explanation
The title names the two main parts of the change: cell drafts now stay in their owning workbook, and a new View > Switch Windows command lists and activates open workbooks. The raw summary and objectives confirm both. The title is short and specific. It also includes the stack label '(1/4)', which is accurate context but adds slight noise.
