Entering a QSO
Entering a QSO should be easily done manually in real time, selecting the Band, the Mode and entering the callsign of the worked station. All the QSO Data must be entered in the different tabs of the Input Block.
If Hamlib is Active (must be activated in Settings → Radio Interface (Hamlib)) frequencies are automatically updated from the radio. If not, selecting the band, lower limit of that band is automatically selected.
Manual Mode allows you to enter a new QSO during a QSO. For example, think of making a contact in FT8 with another radio, while you are in a chat QSO with your friends, with your rig connected to KLog (with Hamlib). After saving that FT8 QSO, the data coming from the radio is going to be visible again.
The QSO Data entered in the Input Block is organized in tabs:
- QSO — the basic contact data: Date, Time, Callsign, Band, Mode. Use Add (or Ctrl+A) to save the QSO to the log, Clear to reset the entry form, and the QRZ.com lookup button to look up the current callsign online.
- My data — per-QSO overrides of your station data (useful if you operate from more than one location/callsign).
- QSL — QSL sending/receiving information: QSL Sent, QSL Rec, QSL Via, QSL Msg, plus the send/receive dates.
- eQSL / LoTW / ClubLog / QRZ.com — status and dates for each online service (Sent/Received, Uploaded/Requested/Validated/Ignored, etc.). See Online Service Integrations.
- Others — extra ADIF fields: Entity, IOTA, SIG / SIG Info, SOTA Ref, WWFF Ref, POTA Ref, Primary/Secondary administrative Division, Propagation mode, Distance.
- Satellites — shown when logging via a satellite; see Satellite QSOs.

KLog can warn about non-valid callsigns and duplicate QSOs within a configurable time range — see Check non-valid calls and Dupe time range in Settings → Miscellaneous.
