Service Truck

GMC C7000 Service Truck. Restore reliability ceiling. The only permanent fix.

Overview

The GMC C7000 Service Truck is a mobile workshop that performs complete vehicle restorations, raising reliability from any level back toward 100%. It's the only tool that can restore vehicles beyond the 80% cap of OBD-Scanner.

Status: Discovery system implemented, restoration work-in-progress (v2.10+).

Discovery System

How to Unlock

The Service Truck isn't available in the shop initially. You must discover it through gameplay:

Prerequisites (all required):

  1. Used OBD Scanner 3+ times - You've felt field repair pain
  2. Credit score 700+ - You're a reliable customer
  3. Own vehicle with <70% reliability - You need this tool

When all conditions met: National Agent contacts you with special offer.

The Offer

Discovery Dialog:

  • "Your National Agent has a connection..."
  • Regular Price: $75,000
  • Your Price: $45,000-65,000 (credit-dependent)
  • Payment: Cash only (no financing)
  • Expiry: 30 in-game days

Decision:

  • Buy Now: Truck delivered to shop spawn point
  • Save Offer: Stored in Finance Manager, can purchase later
  • Ignore: Offer expires, may reappear after another 100 hours

How It Works

Restoration Process

  1. Park Service Truck near degraded vehicle
  2. Activate from Service Truck cab
  3. Select Target Vehicle from nearby list
  4. Inspect System - Diagnosis minigame (similar to OBD Scanner)
    • Correct diagnosis: Restoration begins
    • Wrong diagnosis: 48-hour cooldown, try again later
  5. Monitor Progress - Restoration takes real-time hours/days
  6. Completion - Reliability restored, vehicle like-new

Time Requirements

Starting Reliability Restoration Time Resource Cost
80-90% 24 hours Low
60-79% 72 hours Medium
40-59% 120 hours High
20-39% 200 hours Very High
Below 20% 300+ hours Extreme

Real-Time: These are in-game hours (1 real minute = 1 game hour at 120x speed).

Resource Consumption

Service Truck consumes resources during restoration:

Consumables

Resource Use Consumption Rate Refill Cost
Diesel Powers tools/equipment 5 L/hour $1.50/L
Engine Oil Lubrication systems 2 L per job $8/L
Hydraulic Fluid Hydraulic repairs 10 L per job $12/L
Spare Parts Component replacement Varies by damage $500-5,000/job

Example: 100-hour restoration

  • Diesel: 500 L × $1.50 = $750
  • Oil: 10 L × $8 = $80
  • Hydraulic: 20 L × $12 = $240
  • Parts: ~$2,000
  • Total: ~$3,070

Compare to $15,000 shop overhaul. Service Truck pays for itself after 15 uses.

Refilling

Service Truck tanks:

  • Diesel: 500 L capacity
  • Oil: 100 L capacity
  • Hydraulic: 200 L capacity
  • Parts: 50 unit capacity

Refill at:

  • Fuel stations (diesel only)
  • Vehicle shop (all fluids + parts)
  • Mobile refuel trailer (if owned)

Warning: If truck runs out mid-restoration:

  • Process pauses
  • Vehicle stuck in "under service" state
  • Must refill to continue

Strategic Use

When to Use Service Truck

Perfect for:

  1. Lemons - Bought cheap lemon at 45% reliability, restore to 95%
  2. Workhorses - Aging workhorse at 65%, bring back to 90%+
  3. Pre-Sale Prep - Restore before selling for higher price
  4. Long-Term Keepers - Equipment you plan to use for years

Don't waste on:

  1. Short-Term Rentals - Leased equipment returning soon
  2. Cheap Equipment - $20k trailer not worth 100-hour restoration
  3. Vehicles Near 80% - OBD Scanner cheaper for minor boosts
  4. About to Sell - Restoration takes too long

ROI Calculation

Example: Restore Lemon Combine

  • Bought for: $80,000 (40% reliability)
  • Restoration cost: $4,500 (resources + time)
  • Restored value: $180,000 (95% reliability)
  • Net gain: $95,500

Alternative: Sell as-is for $80k, profit = $0.

Service Truck turns lemons into cash cows.

Reliability Ceiling

Service Truck doesn't restore to 100%, it restores to vehicle's maximum potential:

| Vehicle-DNA | Max Reliability | Service Truck Result | |------------------------------|----------------|----------------------| | Legendary | 100% | Restores to 100% | | Workhorse | 95% | Restores to 95% | | Average | 90% | Restores to 90% | | Below Average | 85% | Restores to 85% | | Lemon | 80% | Restores to 80% (still improves from 40%!) |

Key: Lemons will NEVER reach 100%, even with Service Truck. DNA is permanent.

Cooldown System

Inspection Failure Penalty

If you misdiagnose during inspection:

  • Restoration doesn't start
  • 48-hour cooldown before you can try again on that vehicle
  • Service Truck remains operational (can work on other vehicles)

Why cooldown?: Prevents spamming guesses. Study Malfunctions symptoms first.

No Cooldown on Success

  • Correct diagnosis: Restoration begins immediately
  • No cooldown after completion
  • Can queue next vehicle right away

Tips & Strategies

✅ Smart Strategies

  1. Buy Lemons, Restore, Flip

    • Marketplace lemon: $60k (35% reliability)
    • Restore: $3,500 + 150 hours
    • Sell as workhorse: $140k
    • Profit: $76,500
  2. Batch Restorations

    • Restore 3-4 vehicles in winter (low activity)
    • Have fleet ready for spring
    • Maximize truck utilization
  3. Study Before Inspecting

    • Wrong diagnosis = 2-day delay
    • Read symptoms carefully
    • Check Malfunctions page
  4. Keep Truck Fueled

    • Always top off after each use
    • Don't start 200-hour job with 50 L diesel

❌ Common Mistakes

  1. Buying Truck Too Early

    • $50k investment
    • Depreciates if unused
    • Wait until you have 5+ vehicles needing restoration
  2. Wasting on Cheap Equipment

    • $15k baler at 60% reliability
    • Restoration: $1,500 + 50 hours
    • New baler: $18k
    • Math doesn't work
  3. Not Planning Downtime

    • Start 200-hour restoration during harvest
    • Vehicle locked for a week
    • Can't use it for critical work
  4. Guessing Diagnosis

    • 48-hour penalty
    • Learn symptoms first

Troubleshooting

"Can't find Service Truck offer"

  • Check Finance Manager → Special Offers tab
  • Must meet all 3 prerequisites
  • Offer expires after 30 days

"Restoration paused"

  • Check Service Truck fuel/oil/fluid levels
  • Refill at shop or fuel station
  • Process resumes automatically when refilled

"48-hour cooldown"

  • Failed diagnosis
  • Study Malfunctions page
  • Wait 2 in-game days, try again

"Reliability not improving"

  • Check vehicle DNA ceiling
  • Lemons cap at 80%
  • DNA is permanent (by design)
