Epic: image-builder/osbuild composefs (waits on operator text) #15

Description

@cgwalters-bot

Epic. Goal: bootc-image-builder and the image-builder CLI build composefs-backend bootc images. Waits on the operator's text for upstream PRs. Done when: the composefs backend works end to end in image-builder.

cgwalters: ensure bootc-image-builder (container) and ideally image-builder CLI work with the composefs backend (may need the bootc install mount API, bootc#2483). Initial triage of support status via source code reading and empirical checks.

    The Composefs Stable board's copy of this item said:

    Plan for composefs-backend support in bootc-image-builder and the image-builder CLI: https://gist.github.com/cgwalters-bot/b0baccf1e226e022822655cb5bb269a8

    Done since: DPS root (osbuild/image-builder#2719), install-config key (cgwalters-forge/bootc#23), UKI warnings (cgwalters-forge/image-builder#2).

    Open questions for cgwalters: A) the osbuild mount module runs the target image's bootc, not the builder's (rec)? B) should #2483 document /boot and /sysroot and print mount JSON? C) does Anaconda target #2483 now or wait for bootc#2300?

    D8 (#244) answered A, as tested drafts: the image-builder work consolidates into one new draft under #29 (install-mount probe, generic root for BLS disks), Anaconda waits for bootc-dev/bootc#2300.
