Theming System

Vicious Viper uses Matugen to generate a full color palette from your current wallpaper using Material You color extraction. This means every time you change your wallpaper, the entire desktop — Waybar, Rofi, Mako, Hyprlock, GTK apps — recolors itself automatically.

How It Works

1. You set a new wallpaper (via swww or a custom script)
2. Matugen reads the wallpaper and extracts dominant colors using the Material You algorithm
3. It injects those colors into template files defined in .config/matugen/
4. All configured apps reload with the new palette

Templates

Matugen templates are stored in .config/matugen/. Each template maps Material You color variables (e.g., {{colors.primary.default.hex}}) to the target app's config file format.

Changing Your Wallpaper

Use the wallpaper script (installed to ~/.local/bin/scripts/) or set via swww directly:

swww img /path/to/wallpaper.jpg --transition-type grow --transition-pos center
matugen image /path/to/wallpaper.jpg

Manual Theme Regeneration

If colors get out of sync (e.g., after an app config update), regenerate manually:

matugen image ~/.config/hyprwat/current_wallpaper
