Installation

The recommended way to install Vicious Viper is via the included install.sh script, which handles backups, file copying, script permissions, and PATH setup automatically.

Quick Install

git clone https://github.com/Cybersnake223/Hypr
cd Hypr
chmod +x install.sh
./install.sh

The script will:

1. Verify basic dependencies (cp, mkdir, find, date, fc-cache)
2. Prompt for confirmation before making any changes
3. Back up existing files that would be overwritten into a timestamped directory
4. Copy all configs, scripts, icons, themes, and fonts into $HOME
5. Mark all scripts in ~/.local/bin/scripts as executable
6. Rebuild the font cache via fc-cache -f
7. Optionally append ~/.local/bin to your PATH in ~/.zshrc

Backup Location

Backups are written to:

~/.local/share/hypr-dotfiles-backups// Or, if $XDG_DATA_HOME is set: $XDG_DATA_HOME/hypr-dotfiles-backups//

A .manifest file inside each backup records every path that was overwritten — this is used by --uninstall to restore originals.

Installer Flags

Flag	Description
--dry-run	Preview all actions without making any changes
--yes	Non-interactive mode, skip all prompts
--no-backup	Skip the backup step (dangerous — blocks uninstall)
--uninstall	Restore originals from the most recent backup
-h, --help	Show usage information

Examples

# Preview what would happen without changing anything
./install.sh --dry-run

# Fully non-interactive install
./install.sh --yes

# Non-interactive preview (no prompts, no changes)
./install.sh --yes --dry-run

# Install without creating a backup
./install.sh --yes --no-backup

# Restore backed-up originals
./install.sh --uninstall

Caution: --uninstall and --no-backup cannot be used together. If you skipped the backup on install, you cannot auto-restore.
