eWiz is licensed under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0.
# eWiz License

In plain terms (this summary is not the license — the terms below are):
Copyright (c) 2026 Nischal Dahal

- You MAY use, copy, modify, and share eWiz's source and builds for any
noncommercial purpose: personal use, study, hobby projects, and by nonprofit
or educational organizations.
- You MAY contribute changes, bug fixes, and improvements back to the project.
- You MAY NOT sell eWiz, charge for it, or use it (or anything derived from
it) commercially — including offering it as part of a paid product, a hosted
or managed service, or enterprise/commercial support.
You may do whatever you want with the eWiz source code and other source files
(from here on referred to as the "eWiz Source"), with the following restrictions:

All commercial rights are reserved by the copyright holder. For a commercial
license, contact the author.
- If you publish any work derived from the eWiz Source, you must make it apparent
in some way that it is derived from the eWiz Source.

Required Notice: Copyright (c) 2026 Nischal Dahal
- If you have created an executable program (from here on called "Your Program")
compiled from some source code and/or other source files (from here on called
"Your Source"), and if Your Source includes files or source code copied or
derived from the eWiz Source, then you may only publish Your Program under the
following conditions:

# PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0

<https://polyformproject.org/licenses/noncommercial/1.0.0>

## Acceptance

In order to get any license under these terms, you must agree to them as both strict obligations and conditions to all your licenses.

## Copyright License

The licensor grants you a copyright license for the software to do everything you might do with the software that would otherwise infringe the licensor's copyright in it for any permitted purpose. However, you may only distribute the software according to [Distribution License](#distribution-license) and make changes or new works based on the software according to [Changes and New Works License](#changes-and-new-works-license).

## Distribution License

The licensor grants you an additional copyright license to distribute copies of the software. Your license to distribute covers distributing the software with changes and new works permitted by [Changes and New Works License](#changes-and-new-works-license).

## Notices

You must ensure that anyone who gets a copy of any part of the software from you also gets a copy of these terms or the URL for them above, as well as copies of any plain-text lines beginning with `Required Notice:` that the licensor provided with the software. For example:

> Required Notice: Copyright Yoyodyne, Inc. (http://example.com)

## Changes and New Works License

The licensor grants you an additional copyright license to make changes and new works based on the software for any permitted purpose.
- Your Program does not contain any malware or hidden malicious content.

## Patent License
- You may not charge users money for Your Program, and Your Source must
contain the monetization systems present in the eWiz Source, including the
licensing, trial-period tracking, and payment systems, without any
alterations, and all of these systems must be active and working as
intended in Your Program, paying the original author. That is unless Your
Source features substantial improvements or additions to the eWiz Source,
such that Your Source should be considered its own, derivative work,
separate from the eWiz Source.

The licensor grants you a patent license for the software that covers patent claims the licensor can license, or becomes able to license, that you would infringe by using the software.
- You may not publish Your Program under the name "eWiz", or under a name or
with an icon so similar that users could mistake it for eWiz.

## Noncommercial Purposes
THE EWIZ SOURCE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR
COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN
AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION
WITH THE EWIZ SOURCE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE EWIZ SOURCE.

Any noncommercial purpose is a permitted purpose.

## Personal Uses

Personal use for research, experiment, and testing for the benefit of public knowledge, personal study, private entertainment, hobby projects, amateur pursuits, or religious observance, without any anticipated commercial application, is use for a permitted purpose.

## Noncommercial Organizations

Use by any charitable organization, educational institution, public research organization, public safety or health organization, environmental protection organization, or government institution is use for a permitted purpose regardless of the source of funding or obligations resulting from the funding.

## Fair Use

You may have "fair use" rights for the software under the law. These terms do not limit them.

## No Other Rights

These terms do not allow you to sublicense or transfer any of your licenses to anyone else, or prevent the licensor from granting licenses to anyone else. These terms do not imply any other licenses.

## Patent Defense

If you make any written claim that the software infringes or contributes to infringement of any patent, your patent license for the software granted under these terms ends immediately. If your company makes such a claim, your patent license ends immediately for work on behalf of your company.

## Violations

The first time you are notified in writing that you have violated any of these terms, or done anything with the software not covered by your licenses, your licenses can nonetheless continue if you come into full compliance with these terms, and take practical steps to correct past violations, within 32 days of receiving notice. Otherwise, all your licenses end immediately.

## No Liability
---

***As far as the law allows, the software comes as is, without any warranty or condition, and the licensor will not be liable to you for any damages arising out of these terms or the use or nature of the software, under any kind of legal claim.***
# Notes on the eWiz License

## Definitions
The eWiz License is modelled on the MMF License that Noah Nuebling wrote for Mac
Mouse Fix, itself based on the MIT and DBAD licenses. It has two goals:

The **licensor** is the individual or entity offering these terms, and the **software** is the software the licensor makes available under these terms.
1. To stop people with bad intentions, or people out for a quick buck, from
publishing apps based on eWiz: an app that looks like eWiz but carries malware,
or an app that is eWiz except that when you buy a license someone other than
the author gets paid.

**You** refers to the individual or entity agreeing to these terms.
2. To let everyone else do anything they like with the eWiz source code: reuse it
in their own free or paid projects, write bug fixes and improvements to eWiz and
publish them, or make a substantial improvement to eWiz and charge for that
improved version or release it for free.

**Your company** is any legal entity, sole proprietorship, or other kind of organization that you work for, plus all organizations that have control over, are under the control of, or are under common control with that organization. **Control** means ownership of substantially all the assets of an entity, or the power to direct its management and policies by vote, contract, or otherwise. Control can be direct or indirect.
The license is meant to be open source in spirit, with protections against bad
actors now that eWiz is a paid app. Note that there are no restrictions at all on
how you use the source code, only on publishing apps compiled from it.

**Your licenses** are all the licenses granted to you for the software under these terms.
eWiz is "source-available", not open source by the OSI definition, because of the
publishing restrictions above.

**Use** means anything you do with the software requiring one of your licenses.
The in-app purchase buys a license key for the eWiz app; it does not change these
terms, which govern the source code.

## License

eWiz is **source-available** under the [PolyForm Noncommercial License
1.0.0](LICENSE). Use it, modify it, and contribute back freely for any
noncommercial purpose — but you may not sell it or use it commercially (including
paid products, hosted services, or enterprise support). All commercial rights are
reserved by the author.
eWiz is **source-available** under the [eWiz License](LICENSE), modelled on the
[MMF License](https://github.com/noah-nuebling/mac-mouse-fix/blob/master/License)
Mac Mouse Fix uses. In short: do whatever you like with the source. If you publish an
app built from it, it must say it's derived from eWiz, carry no malware, and keep
eWiz's licensing, trial and payment systems intact and paying the author — unless
yours is a substantially new work. Buying eWiz buys a license key for the app; the
source terms are the same for everyone.
