feat(formula): add the Italian formula locale - #1894
Adds the Italian formula locale (FormulaLocale::It), following the same incremental approach already used for Spanish.
gridcraft-formula: new FormulaLocale::It with 464 Italian function-name aliases (SOMMA, SE, CERCA.VERT, MEDIA, CONTA.NUMERI, CONTA.SE, SOMMA.SE, PIÙ.SE, RIF.COLONNA, ASS, COMP.SOMMA, …) and Italian separators — list ; and decimal , (matching Excel it-IT). The 50 functions Italian Excel keeps in English (MAX, MIN, INT, MAP, MAKEARRAY, XOR, CONCAT, LAMBDA, LET, …) are not translated. Input is case- and accent-insensitive, and VERO/FALSO work as Boolean literals.
gridcraft-ui-egui: Italian help tables for the 12 aliased functions (i18n/it_functions.rs) — descriptions and argument names — dispatched from Language::function_help, so the argument hint, autocomplete and Insert Function show Italian when the interface language is Italian. Language::formula_locale() maps It to FormulaLocale::It; every other language but Spanish keeps English formulas.
Tests: crates/formula/tests/italian_input.rs (11 tests) plus an Italian arm in the formula_locale.rs help test and a unit test rejecting an alias that repeats its English name or that two functions claim.
The names come from Excel, not from a translation
The first version of the table translated the English names, which is wrong: Italian Excel has its own vocabulary. The names here were read back from a running Italian Excel (Microsoft 365, it-IT, black box — each English name set through Range.Formula2 and read back through Range.Formula2Local, all 514 catalog functions resolved), and they agree name-for-name with the table in #714 once its seven pending corrections and nine missing names are applied.
Scope change (2026-10-22)
The UI translation (i18n/it.rs, Language::It) originally included in this PR has landed upstream separately in #1473 (971 entries), so it was dropped here: this PR now contains only the formula-level support, which upstream does not have yet.
Notes
Files keep en-US invariant names and the , separator; the Italian spelling exists only at the formula-bar boundary, so opening a workbook with the interface in English still shows =SUM(1,2).
docs/localization-parity.md records the new formula locale in the revision history.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added Italian as a supported interface and formula language, with localized function names and Boolean values.
Italian formulas support semicolons between arguments, commas as decimal separators, and localized array syntax.
Added Italian descriptions and argument names for selected worksheet functions; help without an Italian translation remains in English.
Bug Fixes
Improved Spanish and Italian formula-name lookup to handle letter case and supported accent variations.
Improved Italian formula parsing and display, including function aliases, arrays, and user-defined names. Parsed formulas retain their canonical form while displaying in the selected locale.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 9a386
Italian formula entry and display, the Italian function aliases, and the interface locale selection are consistent at the current head. The earlier concerns have been fixed and no merge-blocking issue was found.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 9a386
The change expands accepted formula syntax without changing edit permissions or the stored formula format. No new security issue was identified. Some compatibility and concurrent-edit scenarios remain unverified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The traced exposure is additional spellings for formula content submitted through an existing edit path. Drafts remain associated with their owning workbook and window, and aliases resolve to canonical function names rather than granting a new execution authority. No expanded service or tenant authority was established by this path.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Localized input does not bypass the existing workbook mutation boundary. Engine edits operate on a workbook copy, perform protection and array checks, recalculate, and only then replace the published workbook. The UI also preserves stored user-defined-function identity when unchanged displayed text hides its prefix.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Input normalization mutates a temporary parsed expression, while display normalization mutates a clone. Returned errors therefore do not publish partially normalized formulas. The UI restores drafts after canonicalization, validation, or engine-commit errors. Existing formula-length and normalization-depth limits remain applicable.

Use the selected locale when displaying function names.
For an Italian display of a stored SUM(...) call, print_input invokes normalize, but this branch selects FormulaLocale::Es.function_name. It prints SUMA(...), not SOMMA(...). The same hard-coded locale affects Boolean display. Pass the selected locale into normalize and use it for display aliases.

Canonicalize Italian function names in parse_input.
parser::parse_syntax returns localized function names unchanged. For FormulaLocale::It, parse_input skips normalize, so Italian aliases can remain in the expression instead of becoming canonical names such as SUM. Pass the selected locale through normalize, use its locale-specific canonical_name, and run normalization for both Spanish and Italian.

For FormulaLocale::It, parse_input skips normalize. The lexer accepts =SOMMA(1;2), but the parser leaves the call named SOMMA instead of SUM. The UI then stores the unnormalized formula. Include Italian in this path and make call normalization use the selected locale while preserving the existing workbook-name precedence. This finding is anchored outside the changed lines because the unchanged Spanish-only guard causes the new locale to fail. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Use Italian aliases when displaying Italian formulas.
print_input calls normalize for Italian, but this branch always looks up Spanish aliases. An existing =SUM(1,2) formula therefore displays as =SUMA(1;2), not =SOMMA(1;2). If the user confirms the displayed formula, the UI submits SUMA as a function name. Pass the selected locale through normalize and use its alias table for display. This finding is anchored outside the changed lines because the unchanged Spanish lookup is the cause. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Canonicalization on input — parse_input now runs normalize for Italian as well, so =SOMMA(1;2) is stored as SUM(1,2) instead of keeping the localized name.
Locale-aware display — normalize/print_input take the selected locale instead of hard-coding FormulaLocale::Es; Italian now shows SOMMA(...) and VERO/FALSO rather than SUMA(...)/VERDADERO.
Accented aliases — canonical_name uses Unicode-aware case folding, so è.errore and È.ERRORE both resolve to ISERROR.
Booleans — boolean_alias is locale-aware (VERO/FALSO for Italian, VERDADERO/FALSO for Spanish), both in the parser and in normalize.
Alias table — ODD → DISPARI; ROUNDUP/ROUNDDOWN now use distinct aliases (ARROTONDA.PER.ECC / ARROTONDA.PER.DIF) so they no longer collide with CEILING/FLOOR; added the missing COUNT → CONTA and COUNTIF → CONTA.SE.
Language switcher — Language::It is now in Language::ALL (length 12), so Italian appears in both switchers.
Formula help — the XLOOKUP help splits the optional match and search modes.
Tests — added crates/formula/tests/italian_input.rs covering aliases, separators, accented/case-insensitive names, booleans, rounding aliases and display round-trips. cargo test -p gridcraft-formula passes (25 unit + 6 Italian + 5 Spanish).
A few UI labels were also aligned with the sibling WordCraft Italian catalogue; 101 of the 121 shared keys already matched.
Excel Italian uses PIÙ.SE, but this entry maps IFS to SE.PIÙ. As a result, entering PIÙ.SE(VERO;1) does not canonicalize its function name, and displaying a stored IFS call uses the wrong name. Change the mapping and add a round-trip assertion. (support.microsoft.com)

ISOMITTED stays ISOMITTED (Italian Excel keeps the English name).
This removes the duplicate values that made canonical_name resolve CHISQ.DIST to CHIDIST, CHISQ.INV to CHIINV, and CHISQ.TEST to CHITEST. A table-wide duplicate scan now finds only T.TEST/TTEST and Z.TEST/ZTEST, which legitimately share TEST.T/TEST.Z in Excel Italian.
Tests: cargo test -p gridcraft-formula passes (25 unit + 7 Italian + 5 Spanish), and cargo check --workspace is clean.
Replace the Spanish range label in the Italian help signatures.
When Italian users open help for SUMIF or COUNTIF, the shared ITALIAN_HELP table displays rango. Use the repository’s Italian term intervallo instead.

Fourth round addressed in 233f1c7 — the Italian SUMIF/COUNTIF help signatures now use the Italian range label intervallo (and intervallo_somma) instead of the leftover Spanish rango.
Rebased on main (Release 0.9.0) in 39f8750. The rebase is clean — no conflicts — and the PR diff against main is exactly the Italian work: 7 files, +1132/−46.
Why now: main had moved 65 commits ahead of the branch, and the 0.9.0 release introduced the grid.rs cell and row/column header context menus, whose labels only German had translated.
What 39f8750 adds on top of the rebase:
Context-menu labels (i18n/it.rs): Taglia, Copia, Inserisci…, Elimina…, Filtra in base al valore della cella selezionata, Nuovo commento, Scegli dall'elenco a discesa…, Definisci nome…, Nascondi, Mostra. Italian now translates 432 of ~2,200 labels (~20%), second only to Brazilian Portuguese.
docs/localization-parity.md: Italian recorded in the per-language table, in the catalog counts and in the change log.
Verified locally: cargo fmt, cargo check --workspace (clean) and cargo test -p gridcraft-formula (25 unit + 7 Italian + 5 Spanish, all green).
Note: the new upstream test translations_never_show_the_context_prefix iterates Language::ALL, so it now covers Italian too. Italian passes it — tr strips the context| prefix on fallback and no Italian value contains |. (cargo test -p gridcraft-ui-egui can't run here: dlltool.exe is missing for a Windows dependency, unrelated to this change.)

Restructured the PR after the Italian UI translation landed upstream in #1473.
The PR is now formula-level Italian only (FormulaLocale::It), which upstream does not have:
i18n/it.rs, Language::It and the UI-label changes are dropped — i18n: add Italian translation #1473 merged a 971-entry catalog (and it already translates "More workbooks" as "Altre cartelle di lavoro", so this comment's fix is in upstream).
Kept from the engine: the 422-alias ITALIAN table, the locale-aware normalize/parse_input, the accent/case-insensitive canonicalization and the VERO/FALSO booleans — rebased on 0.10.0 (auto-merged, with the allow_union threading and the left-spine Binary normalization preserved from upstream).
The old ITALIAN_HELP signature table was ported to the current help-table schema (i18n/it_functions.rs, like es_functions.rs): 12 descriptions + 17 argument names, dispatched from Language::function_help.
Validated locally on 0.10.0: cargo fmt --all -- --check, cargo check --tests (both crates), cargo test -p gridcraft-formula → 31 + 7 Italian tests green. (The gridcraft-ui-egui test binary can't link in my Windows environment — missing dlltool.exe — so the new help-test assertions run in CI.)

Map Italian interface selection to the Italian formula locale.
Language::It.formula_locale() returns FormulaLocale::En. The normal editor stores this value and uses it for formula display, canonicalization, autocomplete, and separators. The inspected UI exposes no separate formula-locale selector. Italian UI users therefore cannot use Italian function names and separators through the normal editor path.

Rebased onto main after Release 0.11.1 (ac8da7d4), which brought in the large #2226 merge — 9 commits, including crates/formula/src/input.rs, parser.rs, formula_locale.rs and the whole i18n/ tree.
The rebase applied cleanly, no conflicts (a22cbae7...6553f9ec). Re-validated on 0.11.1:
cargo test -p gridcraft-formula: 31 unit tests + 7 Italian + 7 Spanish, all green.
422 Italian aliases and FormulaLocale::It intact; upstream still has FormulaLocale { En, Es }, so the engine side remains ours.
Also re-checked the help tables against the new upstream test function_help_is_sorted_and_keyed_by_current_catalog_text (it iterates Language::ALL, so it now covers it_functions.rs in CI):
DESCRIPTIONS (12) and ARGUMENTS (17): strictly sorted, unique.
Every English key still matches the 0.11.1 catalog — the #2226 merge did not reword any of the 12 descriptions or rename any of the 17 arguments.
The it_functions.rs ordering fix from the previous round is what makes the first condition hold: "Returns the current date and time." sorts before "Returns the current date.".

Rebased again — main had moved 66 commits and the PR had gone dirty (conflicts) in docs/localization-parity.md, where both sides prepend a changelog row.
Resolved by keeping both rows (upstream's 2026-10-23 i18n-report entry on top, ours 2026-10-22 below). The three commits replayed cleanly otherwise, including through upstream's test reorganization (tests/formula_locale.rs → tests/it/formula_locale.rs).
cargo test -p gridcraft-formula: 31 unit + 8 integration (tests/it) + 7 Italian, all green.
Help-table keys re-checked against the catalog: all 12 descriptions and all 17 argument names still match, so the function_help_is_sorted_and_keyed_by_current_catalog_text test stays green.
Upstream still has FormulaLocale { En, Es } — the engine side is still unclaimed.
Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.
The rebase was conflict-free and the branch is now ahead 3 / behind 0.
Because those commits touched crates/functions/ (the catalog the help tables are keyed by), I re-checked every key in i18n/it_functions.rs against the new source:
12/12 description keys still present, each exactly once, inside real f!(…) definitions;
17/17 argument names still present in the signatures.
So function_help_is_sorted_and_keyed_by_current_catalog_text (which iterates Language::ALL and therefore covers the Italian tables) stays green.
Local validation on the rebased tree: cargo fmt --all --check clean, cargo check --workspace clean, cargo test -p gridcraft-formula → 31 unit + 8 integration + 7 Italian, all passing.
Upstream still has no Italian formula locale (FormulaLocale { En, Es }, zero occurrences of an Italian alias table, and Language::formula_locale() still routes everything but Spanish to English), so this PR remains the only place =SOMMA(1;2) works.
Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.
I checked the ITALIAN table against a running Italian Excel: 195 of its 422 names differ from what Excel shows, and 83 functions that change name in Italian are missing. For example ABS is ASS, COLUMN is RIF.COLONNA, CHAR is CODICE.CARATT, CLEAN is LIBERA, DEVSQ is DEV.Q.
How: Microsoft 365 Excel for Windows with the Italian interface and the it-IT regional format, black-box. In a new, never-saved workbook a VBA macro set each formula in English through Range.Formula2 (one call per GridCraft function, with as many A1 arguments as the function needs) and read back Range.Formula2Local. All 514 functions from gridcraft-cli functions resolved. Nothing was taken from Microsoft documentation or Office files, and no Excel file is committed anywhere.
#714 already has an Italian table that matches Excel for 448 of 455 names (I left the seven corrections and the missing nine there), so it may be worth comparing the two before either lands.
41 entries removed because Excel keeps the English name there and the table had translated them anyway (MAX, MIN, INT, MAP, MAKEARRAY, XOR, CONCAT, SWITCH, ISOMITTED, EUROCONVERT, COT/COTH/CSC/CSCH/SEC/SECH, T/TAN/TANH/LN/LOG/LOG10/EXP, BASE, DELTA, GAUSS, PHI, PEARSON, POISSON, WEIBULL, PERCENTILE, QUARTILE, REDUCE/SCAN, UNICODE, VAR, VAR.P, FISHER, GAMMA, COSH, COS). A name that maps to itself is dead weight in a linear scan, so it is simply not in the table.
That leaves 464 aliases, and 50 of the 514 functions keep their English name in Italian — which is the number your run implies, and a useful sanity check on the whole thing.
=ASS(-3) and =RIF.COLONNA(A1) now parse instead of returning #NAME?, and ABS no longer displays as VAL.ABS.
I built the table from your two lists and then diffed it against crates/formula/src/input/it.rs in #714. The result is #714plus exactly the seven corrections and exactly the nine missing names you mention — no difference in either direction. That is an independent confirmation that the two datasets agree, and it means the two PRs no longer disagree on any name.
Two of the seven are the odd ones: IFNA→SE.NON.DISP. and BINOM.DIST.RANGE→INTERVALLO.DISTRIB.BINOM.N. end with a dot, which I would not have believed without the observation. They are kept as typed and both have a round-trip test, since a name ending in . is exactly what a hand-written table gets wrong.
Tests
crates/formula/tests/italian_input.rs gains four tests: the names Excel shows (33 of them), the newer families the table lacked (26), the names that stay English (9), and the trailing-dot round-trip. There is also a unit test in input.rs that fails if an alias repeats its English name or if two functions claim the same Italian spelling — the failure mode a 464-row hand-maintained table invites. I checked separately that no Italian name coincides with a different function's English name, so display can never be ambiguous either.
cargo fmt --check, cargo check --workspace and cargo test -p gridcraft-formula (32 unit + 8 integration + 11 Italian) are clean.
Your structural point stands: #714 moves the tables into input/{de,es,it,pt,ru}.rs with a Dialect struct (separators, booleans, error literals, structured-reference specifiers), which is more than a name table. This PR deliberately stays narrow — one alias table plus the Language::It → FormulaLocale::It mapping — so the two overlap only in input.rs.
Since the name data now matches, either order is mechanical: if #714 lands first I will rebase onto the new layout and the table moves into it.rs unchanged; if this one lands first, #714 keeps its restructure and drops its own table. If you would rather review a single PR, say so and I will close this one and move the Language::It mapping and the Italian help tables (i18n/it_functions.rs, keyed by the English descriptions) into #714 instead.
One thing I did not touch, as it is outside the formula locale: the interface catalog (i18n/it.rs) is the one from #1473, and I have not re-checked its 971 labels against Excel's Italian UI. Happy to do that next if it is useful.

One clarification I should have put in the previous comment, because it is the rule I applied and it explains some of the stranger-looking rows: the table follows what Italian Excel shows, not what Italian would translate to.
Where the two disagree, Excel wins, even when Excel looks wrong:
COLUMN→RIF.COLONNA (RIF = riferimento, not colonna) — a translation would say COLONNA, which is what the first version of the table had and which Excel rejects;
ABS→ASS, not VAL.ABS;
IFNA→SE.NON.DISP. and BINOM.DIST.RANGE→INTERVALLO.DISTRIB.BINOM.N. keep the trailing dot;
50 of the 514 functions stay in English (MAX, MIN, INT, MAP, LAMBDA, LET…), and the 41 that the table used to translate anyway are now gone.
The reason is that a locale is muscle memory, not vocabulary: someone coming from Excel types the string they already type today, quirks included.
One place where this PR still does not follow Excel, and I want to be explicit about it: error values. crates/core/src/value.rs hardcodes CellError::as_str, so with the Italian locale =ASS( evaluates to #NAME? rather than Excel's #NOME? — and likewise #VALORE!, #RIF!, #N/D, #NULLO!. That is deliberate here rather than forgotten: localizing the error literals means threading the locale down to cell rendering, which is what #714's Dialect does (it already carries errors: &[(CellError::Null, "#NULLO!"), …]). Doing it in this PR would duplicate that restructure and guarantee a conflict.
So: names, separators and Booleans here; error literals with #714. If you would rather have the Italian locale complete in one place, tell me and I will move this PR's content into #714 instead of the other way round.
Descriptions and argument names for the 12 functions the Italian formula
locale has aliases for, in the per-language help-table schema
(i18n/it_functions.rs), dispatched from Language::function_help.
Language::formula_locale mapped every language but Spanish to English, so an
Italian interface kept English formulas and `=SOMMA(1;2)` evaluated to
#NAME?. Map It to FormulaLocale::It and cover the mapping and the end-to-end
entry path with tests.
The 422-alias table was a translation of the English names rather than the
names Italian Excel uses: 195 of them differed (`ABS` is `ASS`, `COLUMN` is
`RIF.COLONNA`, `CHAR` is `CODICE.CARATT`, `CLEAN` is `LIBERA`, `DEVSQ` is
`DEV.Q`), and 83 renamed functions were missing altogether, so `=ASS(...)`
and `=RIF.COLONNA(...)` were rejected while `=VAL.ABS(...)` was accepted.
The table is rebuilt from names read back from a running Italian Excel
(Microsoft 365, it-IT, black box: each English name set through
`Range.Formula2` and read back through `Range.Formula2Local`, all 514 catalog
functions resolved) and cross-checked against the table in storytold#714: 464 aliases.
The 41 names Excel keeps in English (`MAX`, `MIN`, `INT`, `MAP`,
`MAKEARRAY`, `XOR`, `CONCAT`, `ISOMITTED`, `EUROCONVERT`…) are no longer
translated, and two names Excel spells with a trailing dot (`SE.NON.DISP.`,
`INTERVALLO.DISTRIB.BINOM.N.`) are kept as typed.
Tests cover the names Excel shows, the newer families the table lacked, the
names that stay English, the trailing-dot round-trip, and a unit test that
rejects an alias repeating its English name or claimed by two functions.
Nine of the observed corrections are names Excel shows unchanged (COT, COTH,
the cosecant pair, SECH, MAP, MAKEARRAY, REDUCE, EUROCONVERT). They are absent
from the table on purpose, so the lookup falls back to the English name; the
test now covers that group, which is the one that used to be translated anyway.
`canonical_name` upper-cased both sides, which handles case but not the accent
itself, so `PROPRIETA.MEMBRO.CUBO` and `PIU.SE` stayed `#NAME?` while the PR
advertises accent-insensitive input. Fold the diacritics a Romance alias can
carry down to their base letter before comparing, so the unaccented spelling
resolves too; what the app displays is still Excel's own spelling, accents
included.
Two tests guard it: one asserts every non-ASCII character present in the tables
folds to ASCII and resolves to its function, so the next accented name added
has to teach `base_letter` its letter instead of silently going back to
accent-sensitive, and the integration test now covers the unaccented spellings
of the nine accented aliases.
Rebased onto main (63038650, 223 new commits) in 9a386207. The rebase applied cleanly, no conflicts.
Upstream touched only two of the files this PR changes, and neither overlaps the Italian work: parser.rs got an explicit use crate::ast::{…} list, and i18n.rs got an Id::unique and a new test in the same mod tests. docs/localization-parity.md was not touched at all this time, so the changelog conflict from the previous rebase did not come back.
Re-validated after the rebase:
cargo fmt --all -- --check is clean.
cargo test -p gridcraft-formula: 35 unit + 11 integration tests pass, including localized_tables_are_unambiguous (464 aliases: no identity mapping, no localized name claimed twice even after accent folding, round-trip in both directions) and every_accented_alias_folds_to_ascii.
The 29 help-table keys (12 descriptions, 17 argument names) still exist verbatim in the current catalog, so none of them is orphaned by an upstream edit to a description; both tables are still strictly ascending and unique, which is what the binary search needs.
cargo check --workspace and cargo test -p gridcraft-ui-egui still do not run on this Windows machine (dlltool.exe and gcc.exe are missing from the toolchain), so the gridcraft-ui-egui side is covered by CI plus the two invariants above, not by a local run.
One note on scope, after the housekeeping pass in #2460: this PR is the formula half only. It adds no it.rs keys and no interface strings, so it cannot conflict with #2460, which carries the interface catalog.
Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.
CodeRabbit passed 9a386207 clean (check run success, no new findings), so the rebase did not disturb anything it had already reviewed.
One thing I should correct from my previous comment, because I had assumed otherwise: CI has never run on this PR. Every workflow run on feat/italian-locale — CI and SonarCloud, for 9a386207 and for all six commits before it — is in action_required, which is the state GitHub uses for runs from outside contributors until a maintainer approves them. It is not specific to this PR; the other open PRs are in the same state. So "the UI side is covered by CI" was wrong: the gridcraft-ui-egui tests in this PR have not been executed anywhere yet, by CI or by me (the local toolchain here is x86_64-pc-windows-gnu without gcc/dlltool, and gridcraft-formula is the only crate that builds).
If you can approve the run, that closes the gap in one click. Until then, what I could verify without a compiler, by reading the code against the current catalog:
mod it_functions; is declared and the module exposes DESCRIPTIONS/ARGUMENTS as pub(super), which is what Language::function_help reads.
Language::formula_locale() returns FormulaLocale::It for It and En for every other language except Es.
Every assertion in the Italian help test checks out against the catalog signatures as they are today: IF(logical_test, [value_if_true], [value_if_false]), VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup]), SUM(number1, [number2], ...), SUMIFS(sum_range, criteria_range1, criteria1, ...). The partial-coverage case holds too: criteria_range is deliberately absent from the argument table, so SOMMA.PIÙ.SE keeps the English argument list rather than mixing the two.
The end-to-end test uses the same helpers and the same shape as the Portuguese and Czech ones already in tests/it/formula_locale.rs, and from_tag("it-IT") resolves to Language::It.
main is 263 commits ahead again, but the PR is still mergeable, and rebasing would invalidate the clean review above, so I left it as is — say the word if you would rather have it current.

The first version of the table translated the English names, which is wrong: Italian Excel has its own vocabulary. The names here were read back from a running Italian Excel (Microsoft 365, it-IT, black box — each English name set through

The UI translation (
