A long proofing language name in the status bar (e.g. "English (United
States) (not checked)") ran under the "Saved" message, and in a narrow window
it painted over the Notes and Comments buttons and took their clicks.

  • The language label and status message each start at their usual column, or
after the item before them when that runs long.
  • Both are clipped where the controls on the right begin, and only the
visible part of the language label opens Review › Language.

Split out of the whole-presentation language PR.

Tests: cargo xtask ci passes except
replacefonts_tests::ribbon_button_opens_the_dialog_and_replaces, which fails
on main too.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Status bar text now appears in sequence after the slide counter, reducing overlap between the counter, proofing language, and temporary messages.
    • Long language labels and temporary messages are clipped before the right-side controls, and clicking a language is limited to its visible area.
    • The right-side notes, comments, view, and zoom controls retain their existing placement.

The transient message ("Saved") was painted at a fixed x of 290, so
"English (United States) (not checked)" ran under it. The language and
the message now each start at their usual column or after the item
before them, and the message is clipped before the controls on the
right.

📝 Walkthrough

The status bar documentation now describes its left- and right-side contents. The proofing language and transient status message are positioned after preceding text and clipped before the right-side controls. The language click target is limited to the visible clipped text.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in crates/ui-egui/src/status.rs: Added documentation describing the status bar’s left- and right-side contents.
  • observed — Modified behavior in crates/ui-egui/src/status.rs: The slide counter is now measured to position the language after it, with a minimum offset of 120 pixels. The language is clipped before the right-side controls, and its clickable area is limited to the clipped text bounds; previously, it used a fixed position and an unrestricted hit area.
  • observed — Modified behavior in crates/ui-egui/src/status.rs: The transient status message now starts after the language, with a minimum offset of 290 pixels, and is clipped before the right-side controls. The right-side control area continues to start 560 pixels from the right edge.

Clip the slide counter at right_x.

The counter uses the un-clipped painter. At the supported minimum window width of 480 pixels, right_x is already left of the status bar's origin. A sufficiently wide Slide … of … value can therefore paint into the reserved control region. The language and transient message follow the counter, so the concrete overlap is with the right-side controls.
