CI and tagged releases currently build the package without running its regression tests. The package also uses Python 3.12 syntax without declaring a minimum Python version, allowing installation on incompatible interpreters.

Run the existing unittest suite before builds in CI (Python 3.12 and 3.13) and before release builds/publication (Python 3.12). Declare python_requires=">=3.12" and update the installation requirements, contribution instructions, and changelog.

Validation:

  • All 3 tests pass on Python 3.12.13 and 3.13.12.
  • Source distributions and wheels build on both versions.
  • Generated sdist and wheel metadata contains Requires-Python: >=3.12.
  • Pip's target-version checks reject Python 3.11 and accept 3.12/3.13.
  • Workflow YAML and test-step ordering checks pass, as does git diff --check.

Runtime code, test assertions, workflow triggers, and workflow permissions are unchanged. The tests use mocked cloud responses and require no SensorPush credentials.
