When an attribute becomes associated with you, you get an association with a tribe.
If you assign an attribute to yourself, this is the weakest form of association.
When you attend an event, you get an association with the tribal activities that happened there. So you are technically part of that tribe, but weakly associated. Your association becomes stronger if you attend a lot of events where a certain tribal activity happens.
The more people who cosign a given attribute of yours, the stronger your association relative to other people and the amount of cosigns they have.
The strength of your association with a tribe determines results you get back from pings, for instance. It also affects what is reasonable for the fee to be contacted that you can set for a given tribe.
