Description
When the simulation is capped at 30 Hz, the rendering rate becomes progressively slower as the simulation runs, particularly when using a large point cloud (~1.2 GB).
Depending on the run, one of two behaviors is observed:
- The rendering rate initially starts close to the 30 Hz limit but gradually decreases over time, reaching as low as ~2 Hz after approximately 5 minutes.
- The rendering rate is already very low from the beginning of the simulation.
The issue appears to be related to the use of the large point cloud, although the exact cause is currently unclear.
Expected behavior
The rendering rate should remain stable and close to the configured 30 Hz limit throughout the simulation, without progressively degrading over time.
Additional information
- Rendering rate limit: 30 Hz
- Point cloud size: ~1.2 GB
- Observed degradation: ~30 Hz → ~2 Hz over ~5 minutes in some runs
Environment
- OS: Linux
- Distribution: Ubuntu
- Version: 22.04
- GPU: Quadro RTX 3000
- nvidia driver: nvidia-driver-595-open
