The v0.0.18 release run warned that actions/checkout@v4 and actions/upload-artifact@v4 target the deprecated Node.js 20 runtime (actions/download-artifact@v4 does too). This moves them to their current majors, which run on Node.js 24:

  • actions/checkout v4 → v7
  • actions/upload-artifact v4 → v7
  • actions/download-artifact v4 → v8

The breaking changes in between don't affect these workflows: checkout v7 blocks fork checkouts under pull_request_target/workflow_run (not used here); upload-artifact v7 only adds an opt-in archive: false; download-artifact v8 fails on digest mismatches instead of warning and skips unzipping non-zip artifacts (ours are all zipped).

Swatinem/rust-cache@v2 already runs on Node.js 24 and dtolnay/rust-toolchain is a composite action, so neither changes.

The artifact actions only run in the manual release workflow, so they are exercised by the next release, not by this PR's checks.

actions/checkout v4 -> v7, actions/upload-artifact v4 -> v7 and
actions/download-artifact v4 -> v8 all run on Node.js 24.
