Using the menu

Opening it

Hold L + R for about a second, on the Home screen or in a game. On consoles without shoulder buttons (NES Classic, Famicom Classic, Famicom Shonen Jump), hold B + Down instead.

You can pick a different combo in Advanced Options → Controller.

Buttons

Button Action
Up / Down Move (hold to repeat)
A or Start Run the entry or open its submenu
B Back; closes the menu on the main screen
B (hold ~1 second) Delete the selected entry, on lists that allow it — confirm with A

Entries that open a submenu have a › on the right. Switches show whether a setting is on or off. The footer always shows the buttons you can use on the current screen.

Entries you can't use right now are hidden: the USB ones when no USB/SD drive is connected, RetroArch when it isn't installed, NES-only options on a SNES, and so on.

Main menu

Exit RetroArch before shutting down or restarting from the menu, or you may lose saves.

For smoother Japanese text, install the Japanese Font Pack.
