Winget (Windows Package Manager) has a centralized, official repository managed by Microsoft on GitHub, called microsoft/winget-pkgs.
The Setup: You don't host anything. You just write a YAML manifest file for your tool.
The Release: When your GitHub Action finishes building the release, it uses an open-source GitHub Action (like vedantmgoyal2009/winget-releaser) to automatically fork the Microsoft repository, commit your new YAML manifest, and submit a Pull Request to Microsoft.
The User Experience: Microsoft's bots automatically validate your PR (they check the hash and run a quick malware scan). Once merged (usually within an hour), any user on Windows 10/11 can open their terminal and type winget install your-org.bb. Winget pulls the manifest from Microsoft, downloads your .exe or .zip from your GitHub Release, and installs it.
