Summary

Fixes an inaccuracy in the WhatsApp for Conversations article flagged by Gabriel Tsoi: the doc presented the 250 (unverified) / 1,000 (verified) figures as a monthly allowance of free outbound messages. They are actually Meta's daily messaging limits — caps on how many business-initiated conversations an account can start per day — and have nothing to do with billing.

What changed

  • What's Included: removed the "Includes 250 outbound conversations per month" bullet; now notes outbound template messaging is billed per message by Meta and subject to Meta's daily messaging limits.
  • Billing information: rewrote the section. Replaced "Conversation Expansion Beyond Free Limits" with "How outbound messaging is charged" — Meta bills business-initiated template messages from the very first message, based on message category and recipient country; only replies inside the open 24-hour customer service window are free. Explicitly clarifies the 250/1,000 figures are daily limits, not free messages, with a link to the existing Messaging limits section.
  • FAQ "What will WhatsApp messaging cost me?": corrected to match — no free monthly message allowance; the 24-hour window replies are free, template messages are billed per message by Meta.

The Messaging limits section itself was already accurate and is unchanged.

Source

Meta moved WhatsApp Business Platform to per-message pricing (July 2025): business-initiated marketing/utility/authentication template messages are charged per delivered message; non-template messages within an open customer service window are free. See Meta's pricing docs.

Pre-push validation run: frontmatter, tags, callouts, links, and anchors all pass.

…free messages

Clarify that the 250 (unverified) and 1,000 (verified) figures are Meta's
daily business-initiated conversation limits, not a monthly allowance of free
outbound messages. Meta bills business-initiated template messages per message
from the first message sent; only replies within the open 24-hour customer
service window are free.
