What

Liner now shows a system tray icon. Its menu has Show Liner, Previous, Play/Pause, Next and Quit Liner. Clicking the icon brings the window back on Windows and Linux; on macOS the click opens the menu.

Why

There was no way to control playback or reach the app from the tray / menu bar.

How

  • electron/tray.ts: TrayController, built like ThumbarController. It follows the same player state from touchbar:update-state, disables the playback items until a track is loaded, and only rebuilds the menu when the play state changes.
  • electron/main.ts: creates the tray on ready, sends playback items through the existing overlay:action channel, and quits through shutdown.quit(). The tray is destroyed in the shutdown cleanup. The show / restore / focus logic from second-instance moved into revealMainWindow() so the tray reuses it.
  • electron/thumbar.ts: exports PLAYING_STATUSES so both controllers agree on what counts as playing.

Closing the window still quits the app; no close-to-tray behavior is added.

Testing

  • pnpm exec vitest run electron/tray.test.ts electron/thumbar.test.ts: all pass (new tests for menu state, routing, click behavior per platform, destroy).
  • pnpm lint, pnpm exec tsc -b: clean.
  • pnpm test: 50 failures in 7 src/ suites (auth, connectivity, player, shortcuts, youtube auth). They fail the same way on current main without this change.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a system tray menu with options to show the app window, control playback, and quit the app.
    • Playback controls reflect the current track and play state, and track-dependent actions are unavailable when no track is loaded.
    • On non-macOS platforms, clicking the tray icon opens the app window.
    • Tray playback controls update as playback status changes.

Walkthrough

The main process now creates and updates a system tray controller. The tray provides window, playback, and quit actions. Main-window reveal logic is shared with second-instance handling, and shutdown destroys the tray.

Changes: Tray integration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Tray menu and playback behavior
electron/tray.ts, electron/thumbar.ts, electron/tray.test.ts
TrayController creates a platform-sized tray and builds window, playback, and quit menu actions. Playback controls depend on track availability, and the menu updates when the derived playback state changes. Tests cover actions, platform-specific clicks, menu updates, and destruction.
Main-process tray and window wiring
electron/main.ts
The main process creates and stores the tray controller, forwards player state, and destroys the tray during shutdown. A shared helper creates or reveals the main window for tray actions and second-instance handling.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "feat(electron): system tray with playback controls" matches the main change. The PR adds a tray icon (electron/tray.ts, with TrayController and createTray) whose menu holds Show Liner, Previous, Play/Pause, Next, and Quit actions. The title names the tray and the playback controls, which are the core of the changeset. It is specific enough for a teammate scanning history to see the primary change. The title is a short, single sentence in conventional-commit form and contains no file lists, emojis, or vague terms.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 4 functions across 4 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

83-96: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Add a test for a track removed after playback starts.

The tray tests never move from a loaded track to track: null. The current code disables Previous, Play, and Next in that case. Without a test, a regression that ignores a null track would leave these items enabled and still pass the suite.

Add this case after the only rebuilds the menu when the play state changes test:

🧪 Suggested test
+  it("disables playback items when the track is removed", () => {
+    const { controller, item } = setup();
+    controller.update({ status: "playing", track: { id: "a" } });
+    controller.update({ status: "idle", track: null });
+    expect(item("Previous")?.enabled).toBe(false);
+    expect(item("Play")?.enabled).toBe(false);
+    expect(item("Next")?.enabled).toBe(false);
+  });

Assert the macOS context menu in the darwin test.

The darwin test checks only that no click listener is registered. create() attaches the context menu on every platform, including darwin. A change that skips setContextMenu() on darwin would still pass this test. Asserting that the macOS menu contains Show Liner covers the menu path that macOS uses for interaction.

     expect(tray.listeners.has("click")).toBe(false);

Update the macOS tray test that verifies no click listener is registered to also
inspect the context menu created by setup("darwin") and assert that it contains
“Show Liner”; use the existing menu-inspection helper or expose the recorded
menu from setup as needed.

the main process flow in `electron/main.ts` into `electron/tray.ts`. Keep the
existing `TrayController` callbacks and state-update behavior intact, and leave

Both nitpicks applied: a test for a track removed after playback starts, and the macOS test now checks that the menu has Show Liner.
