Integrates a multi-provider AI lyric translation, singable rhythm adaptation, and pronunciation guide suite into the Liner desktop client, fully compatible with the v0.2.11 Canvas lyrics architecture.
Key Enhancements
Multi-Provider AI Engine (8 Providers Supported):
Google Gemini: Fast & fluent (Gemini 2.0 Flash / 1.5 Flash).
Anthropic Claude: Premium translation quality via Claude 3.5 Haiku & Sonnet.
OpenAI & DeepSeek: Official GPT-4o / o3-mini and DeepSeek V3 / R1 Reasoner support.
OpenRouter: Unified AI gateway for global open-source models.
Ollama: 100% offline & local translation via local inference (Llama 3.2, Qwen 2.5) with no API key required.
Bidirectional Subtitles: Automatically derives LTR/RTL text direction from subtitle content so translations under RTL songs (Arabic/Hebrew) render correctly.
Persistent Dual-Key Cache & Token Efficiency:
Translations are saved synchronously to disk with debouncedStorage.flush(), persisting across app restarts.
Dual-key indexing allows translations to be seamlessly reused when switching lyric sources (Spotify ↔ Musixmatch ↔ Genius) without burning duplicate API tokens.
Switching providers or models in settings preserves all existing cached translations.
Refined Settings UI:
Balanced 4×2 grid of visual cards with official provider branding icons.
Searchable target language dropdown supporting 20+ global languages with native scripts.
Security: API keys and custom endpoints strictly reside in local storage and are scrubbed from settings exports.
Verification
pnpm exec tsc -b: Passed (0 errors).
pnpm vitest run: Passed (All test suites green).
Strict adherence to < 150 lines/file modularity across all modified and new modules.

Add a timeout to the Google Translate fetch calls.
Both fetch(url) calls in googleFreeProvider.ts have no signal or deadline. If one request never settles, mapWithConcurrency never resolves, so the translate or romanize operation stays pending. The store flag (isTranslating or isRomanizing) stays true, and the lyric button stays disabled until the network layer ends the request.
try {
const url = `https://translate.googleapis.com/translate_a/single?client=gtx&sl=auto&tl=en&dt=rm&q=${encodeURIComponent(trimmed)}`;
- const res = await fetch(url);+ const res = await fetch(url, { signal: AbortSignal.timeout(15000) });
if (!res.ok) return line;
With this change, a stalled translate request rejects after the deadline. The store catch then sets the error state and clears the flag. A stalled romanize request hits the existing catch and returns the original line.

Stop Gemini fallback on HTTP 402 (prepaid credit depleted).
A 402 response means the billing account has no Prepay credit left, and every API key on that account stops working. The catch in callGeminiApi continues to the next model for this error, because the message does not contain API_KEY_INVALID or PERMISSION_DENIED. Each remaining model can return the same 402, so one request can make up to four calls before it throws. Rethrow 402 immediately, as the existing marker checks already do. Keep the fallback for 429, which can be specific to one model.

Add a unit test for the drawToken scale transform.
drawToken applies ctx.translate, ctx.scale, and ctx.translate in src/features/lyrics/canvas/drawWord.ts before fillText when the highlight has a scale. No test calls drawToken. The only canvas test, src/features/lyrics/canvas/syllablePulse.test.ts, asserts the values that syllablePulse returns. Removing the transform block leaves all current tests passing.
Add a test that calls drawToken with a highlight whose scale is not 1 and a CanvasRenderingContext2D stub. Assert that scale is called with highlight.scale for both axes. This test checks context calls, not rendered pixels.

Skip cached overlays whose source lines differ from the current lyrics.
The hook applies cached translations and romanizations to braccatoLyrics by line index. It does not compare the cached source lines with the current lines. The translate and romanize actions make this comparison before they reuse a cache entry. If the lyric text for a track changes while the provider stays the same, the cache key stays the same, and the old overlay is applied to the new lines.
Translation overlays use the translation key: track, target language, singable mode, and provider. Romanization overlays use the romanization key: track and provider. The fix checks each overlay against the source map for its own key.
This change hides a mismatched overlay. It does not start a new request.

Don't send the key to the OpenAI host by default.
The store sets baseUrl to https://api.openai.com/v1 (aiTranslateStore.ts:59). Selecting OpenAI Compatible does not change it, because setProvider leaves baseUrl unchanged (aiTranslateStore.ts:73-76). If a user enters a key for another service and runs Test or translation without editing the endpoint, callOpenAiChat sends that key as a Bearer token to https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions. The lyric text goes to the same host. The field displays the URL, but the request does not require an edit.
With an empty default, translateWithOpenAiCompatible throws Base URL is required for OpenAI Compatible provider (openAiProvider.ts:59-62) before it sends a request. Only the OpenAI Compatible path reads baseUrl, so the other providers are unaffected.
This edit does not change stored settings. The persist middleware restores a stored baseUrl (aiTranslateStore.ts:117), so an existing OpenAI value still applies. If stored values must change, bump the persist version and clear only a baseUrl that equals https://api.openai.com/v1. Leave other endpoints unchanged.

Do not cache an all-blank romanization result for non-Latin lines.
When the Google dt=rm response has no item[3], romanizeWithGoogleFree returns the source line. dropUnchangedRomanization then blanks that entry. executeTrackRomanization caches the resulting array without a non-empty check. hasRom checks only the array length, so the controls report pronunciation as available. The toggle then shows no text and skips the retry path.
Treat a missing romanization as a failed result for non-Latin lines, not as an unchanged line. A fallback of "" in the provider does not fix this, because the all-blank array would still be cached.

Minor · Track the loading flags by configuration generation. · aiTranslateStore.ts:73-80
src/features/ai-translate/store/aiTranslateStore.ts:73-80 Minor · Stability & Availability · Poor tradeoff
Track the loading flags by configuration generation.
A configuration change advances configGeneration and clears results, but it leaves isTranslating and isRomanizing set while a request started before the change is pending. The translate and pronunciation buttons read those flags, so they stay disabled until the old request settles. Google requests set no timeout, so that wait can last as long as the network allows.
Clearing the flags in the setters alone does not restore readiness. The old request remains counted in activeTranslationCount. When a request started after the change succeeds or fails, its completion sets isTranslating to activeTranslationCount > 0. That value is true again until the old request settles. The same applies to isRomanizing.
Reset the counters with the generation, and count only requests from the current generation. Stale completions then leave the flags unchanged.
Suggested fix
In src/features/ai-translate/store/aiTranslateActions.ts, add a reset function after the counter declarations:
let activeTranslationCount = 0;
let activeRomanizationCount = 0;
++export function resetActiveRequestCounts() {+ activeTranslationCount = 0;+ activeRomanizationCount = 0;+}
Apply the same change to executeTrackRomanization: move the currentGen() !== requestGen check before the decrement, remove the stale-branch isRomanizing: false writes, and decrement activeRomanizationCount only for current-generation completions in both the success and error paths.
In src/features/ai-translate/store/aiTranslateStore.ts, add resetActiveRequestCounts to the existing import from ./aiTranslateActions. Then update each setter that bumps configGeneration. For example:
Apply the same pattern to setBaseUrl, setModel, and clearCache. In clearCache, add resetActiveRequestCounts(); after configGeneration++; and add isTranslating: false, isRomanizing: false to its set call.

Use || so a blank translation falls back to romanization.
In subtitleOf, trans is translation.text after trimming. A whitespace-only translation becomes "". The nullish operator ?? keeps "", so text stays empty and the function returns null. The canvas then drops the romanization subtitle. Using || moves to the romanization when the trimmed translation is empty. The same defect exists at the merge base, so this PR does not introduce it.
Suggested fix
- const text = trans ?? rom ?? null;+ const text = trans || rom || null;

Reject a non-empty response in a blank source slot on the equal-count path.
Reject a non-empty response in a blank source slot on the equal-count path.
When the response line count equals the source line count, the positional branch returns without checking blank source slots. A translation placed in a blank source slot is discarded, and later lines shift by one position. For source ['A','','B'] and response ['a','b','extra'], the function returns ['a','','extra']. The translation b is lost, and extra is shown on lyric line B.
Routing this case to the existing count check rejects it. The count check throws Line count mismatch and nothing is cached. This matches how the function already handles other count mismatches.

mockGoogleTranslate decodes searchParams.get("q") a second time. searchParams.get already decodes once, and production encodes the query once with encodeURIComponent. With the extra decode, a double-encoded request such as Line%25201 decodes to Line 1 and matches the dictionary, so the cache test still passes. Reading q once makes the mock receive the query as sent. Correctly encoded requests still match the dictionary. A double-encoded request now misses it, and the cache test fails on its translation assertion.

Remove the second decodeURIComponent in the Google mock.
The mockGoogleTranslate helper decodes q after URLSearchParams.get has already decoded it. A request that double-encodes its query therefore decodes back to the dictionary key and passes. The provider encodes once, so the current lookups succeed. The test still cannot detect a provider that encodes twice.
Removing the extra decode keeps single-encoded requests working. Also add a lyric with a space, such as Hello World, to both the dictionary and the input. Hello and World contain no escapable characters, so encoding once or twice gives the same string. With a space in the input, a double-encoded request misses the dictionary. The mock then returns the still-encoded Hello%20World, and the expected translation no longer matches.

Clear the test result when target language or singable mode changes.
handleTest sends targetLang and singableMode, but only the provider, API key, endpoint, and model handlers call invalidateTest(). The language and singable controls sit beside AiTabModelConfig and do not reset its state. After either setting changes, the previous test result stays visible. A pending test also still writes its result. Either case can make the result look like it validates the current selection. Call invalidateTest() when these two settings change.

Assert the target language in the Google Translate mock.
The google_translate test at aiTranslateService.test.ts:26-40 passes targetLang: "vi". The mockGoogleTranslate helper at lines 13-19 reads only the q parameter and returns the dictionary value. It does not read tl. The test asserts only the returned lines and toHaveBeenCalledTimes(2). If the request sent tl=en, the assertions would still pass.
Have the mock read searchParams.get("tl") and assert that it equals "vi". This closes the gap in regression coverage. Current behavior is correct: aiTranslateService.ts:53 forwards targetLang, and googleFreeProvider.ts:7-13 maps "vi" to tl=vi in the request URL.

The new isRtl assertions check only the helper. No test exercises the subtitle layout that uses its result. layoutLines.ts now orders subtitle words with isRtl(line.subtitle), and drawLine.ts sets ctx.direction from the same value. A translation that starts with Arabic or Hebrew text therefore gets RTL direction and reversed word order, even on a non-RTL lyric line. Before this change, that case used LTR direction and logical order.
Add one layoutLines test for this case. Assert the word positions that depend on the subtitle direction. Do not assert the word order of mixed Latin and Arabic subtitles in this test. The expected order for that case is not established by this change.

The missing-key test at aiTranslateService.test.ts:54-73 checks only the rejection messages. The dispatch branches at aiTranslateService.ts:44-46 and :56-58 can be swapped without any test failing, because the key check runs before dispatch. Add a valid-key test for each provider that captures the outgoing URL through global.fetch, as the openai_compatible test already does:
claude: expect https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages, the URL set in claudeProvider.ts.
openrouter: expect a URL that starts with https://openrouter.ai/api/v1, the base URL used in openAiProvider.ts.
Return a response body that each provider's parser accepts. claudeProvider.test.ts already has a working Claude response mock. Stubbing the provider modules with vi.mock would be a different pattern from this file, which does not use vi.mock, so the fetch approach is the simpler fit.
