Windows Installation Guide
- 1: Purchase a copy of Magic Carpet 2 from GOG here: https://www.gog.com/game/magic_carpet_2_the_netherworlds Or mount an ISO of the Magic Carpet 2 CD.
- 2: Download the x86 or x64 MSI file. (x64 is faster but also a little more buggy) https://github.com/thobbsinteractive/magic-carpet-2-hd/releases/latest
- 3: Run the MSI file.
- 4: First you will be prompted that the file is not Safe (this is because it is not signed as these keys cost). Click [Advanced] and then [Run anyway]
- 5: The Intro screen will show:
Click [Next]

6: Tick that you Accept the terms of the License agreement. It is a standard Open Source MIT license Click [Next]

7: Next confirm where you want to install it:
Click [Next]
- 8: Uncheck if you do NOT want to install "Enhanced Textures". These are scaled up textures and make the game look better:
- 9: Magic Carpet 2 HD will now install.
- 10: User Account Control might prompt you to confirm the install. Click [Yes]
- 11: The Game Data dialog will now show. This can save you a lot of time and automates getting of the Game Data:
There are two options. One copies from the GOG version. This version also rips the audio tracks. The other just copies from the CD.
- 12: Click [Extract Game Data] to start the extraction process

13: Once you get the "Extraction Successful" message, you can click [Next]

14: The next steps install C++ Re-distributable. This is needed for the logging and very much needed to run the game.
- 15: If all has gone well, you have successfully installed Magic Carpet HD 2:
- 16: Click the Start menu shortcut "Magic Carpet 2 HD" to run the game.
- 17: Finally, because it is not signed, your Virus checker might stop the game for starting while it does an assessment.
- 18: Any errors will be output to "log.txt"
To run, the Game needs the contents of the Games CD in the "CD_Data" (1) folder. When Magic Carpet 2 (DOS) is first run it creates a "NETHERW" (2) folder. This also needs to be copied in the "Magic Carpet 2 HD" folder.
