Libraries panel: art and colors dragged in are added where they are dropped - #4463
Art dragged off the canvas onto the Libraries panel, and colors dragged in from the Swatches panel or another library, were always added at the end of the ungrouped items, which the panel shows first. Where they were dropped didn't matter, so a library organized into groups had to be sorted again after every addition.
They now land the way items dragged within the list do (#3162):
On an item of their kind: just before or after it, by the pointer's half, and in its group. The same accent line shows where.
On a group (its header or anywhere in it, away from an item of their kind): into that group, with the group outlined.
Away from the items (an empty library, or the space below them): ungrouped at the end, as before.
Art or a color the library already has is still not added twice, and it isn't moved either.
Engine:
library.add takes group and before / after (another item of the same kind). These place the new item exactly as library.moveItem places one; the two commands now share that code.
The result also reports the new item's group.
A library change that fails partway (a missing group or item) now leaves the library as it was. Before, only a failed save undid it. The existing commands checked everything before changing anything, but the new placement runs after the item is added.
Panel: an incoming drag (canvas art, or a color not from this library) uses the same drop paths as an item already in the list. Releasing it runs library.add with the place instead of library.moveItem.
bad groups, items and before-plus-after asks adding nothing.
Panel: panels::libraries::tests::art_and_colours_dropped_from_elsewhere_go_where_they_are_dropped drops canvas art and a swatch:
into an empty library;
on a graphic's top half;
on a grouped graphic's bottom half;
on a group's header;
below the items.
The library fuzz test now also runs library.add with group and after / before on imported libraries.
Checked by hand in the app on macOS: objects dragged from the canvas land before or after the item dropped on and in its group, and a group header takes them into the group.
docs/mcp.md, the panel's module docs and the Libraries row and history in docs/target-app-parity.md are updated (scores unchanged).
No panics in shipped code: no unwrap(), expect(), panic!, unreachable!, todo! or unimplemented! outside tests, and no unchecked indexing on data from files, parameters or
messages. Errors are returned as Result and shown to the user
(why and how).
Clean-room: nothing copied from Adobe products or GPL/AGPL code (AGENTS.md).
Every new asset has a row in ASSETS.md (none added).
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Add artwork and colors to a library by dragging them onto it. Drop items into a group, place them before or after a matching item, or add them ungrouped.
Specify a group and placement when adding or moving library items. Existing items remain in their current position.
Bug Fixes
Preserve the previous library if an update or save fails.
Prevent a successful drop from also triggering a second placement.

Walkthrough
Library commands now support group and relative placement when adding or moving items. The libraries panel can add canvas artwork and solid-color swatches through drag-and-drop, using the drop location to determine placement.
library.add and library.moveItem accept group and before/after placement options. Placement validates groups and same-kind targets, and added items are ordered in their kind’s list and group. Existing identical items remain in place. Mutation or save errors restore the prior library. Tests and command documentation cover placement and duplicate behavior.
The panel recognizes canvas artwork and solid-color swatches as new-item drags. Drops on items, group headers, or empty list areas add items with the corresponding placement. The panel distinguishes handled drops from unplaced drags. UI tests cover drop locations.

Merge Risk: Low · previous review 36bba
An invalid add request can leave an unwanted empty library. This is a bounded issue, but automatic creation should be rolled back or placement validated first.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 36bba
The change is limited to library ordering and grouping. However, a failed first addition can leave an empty library saved and selected, so rollback does not cover the complete operation.
Retained concerns
Low · reliability · observed: Rollback excludes automatic target-library creation. With no available library, library.add saves and selects an empty library before validating placement references. An unknown group or relative item then returns an error and restores the library contents, but leaves the new library, current selection, and configured persistence file behind. This is a newly reachable partial-success state that changes subsequent default-target behavior, although the create-before-mutate lifecycle already existed.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The inspected placement path affects the selected target library, or one automatically created default library when none is available. The new fields do not independently address other libraries or arbitrary paths. Repeating the failed initial addition resolves the newly current library rather than repeatedly creating libraries.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Caller-controlled placement values are validated by the engine: simultaneous before and after values are rejected before target creation, and group and same-kind item lookups occur against the target Library. Reference-validation failures restore that library's item contents.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The remaining failure-containment gap concerns library lifecycle ownership, not retained item data: content rollback cannot undo collection insertion, current selection, or the earlier empty-library save. No associated privilege gain was established.

Thanks @danngreen. Placing dropped art and colors where they're dropped, the same way a drag within the list does, makes sense. This PR conflicts with main now: #4294 split the big UI files into modules and #4299 made the imports explicit. Could you rebase it onto main? I'll review it once it merges cleanly.
@bflatastic I'm rebasing to try to keep up with a moving target (main), but for the moment this should merge (modulo some changes in target-app-parity.md if main has moved)
…dropped
Art dragged off the canvas and colours dragged in from elsewhere (swatches, another library's)
used to be added at the end of the ungrouped items, wherever they were dropped. They now land
as items dragged within the list do: on another item of their kind, just before or after it by
the pointer's half and in its group; on a group, into it; away from the items, ungrouped at the
end as before.
library.add takes group and before/after, placed as library.moveItem places an item (the
placement is shared). A library change that fails partway now leaves the library as it was.
With no library yet, library.add made and saved "My Library" before it
looked for the group or item to place the new one by, so a bad `group`,
`before` or `after` failed but left an empty library behind. The new
library is now kept only once the item is in it.
