What this changes

Commenting on drawings (plans, schematics, CAD exports) asks for the points of a connected line or a polygon to sit on the drawing, as CAD's object snap does. The measuring tools already snap to the page's vector paths; the drawing tools now do the same (parity comment.snap-to-drawing, new, shipped; beyond Acrobat):

  • Snap to drawing (F3, or the circle-dot button on the drawing tools' quick bar; remembered across starts) makes the points of connected lines, polygons, clouds, lines, arrows, rectangles and ovals land on the page's own paths: endpoints, midpoints, intersections and the paths themselves, within 6 screen points of the pointer, with the measuring tools' green ring and the target's name under the pointer while drawing. Freehand drawing and text markup don't snap. (Shift's hold while drawing, level or plumb, is its own PR, M5: Shift holds lines level or plumb while drawing (ortho) #4285.)
  • The comments already drawn snap too: lines and arrows, connected lines, polygons and clouds, rectangles and ovals give their ends and corners, the middles of their sides, the centres of closed ones and the lines themselves, so lines join end to end. A comment being moved, resized or reshaped is left out (it would cling to where it was); hidden comments don't snap. They are a second, small geometry beside the page's (measure::snap::{comment_outlines, outline_geometry}, Document::comment_paths), rebuilt per edit without extracting the page's paths again; candidates from both are merged points first, then the nearest path.
  • Headless: comment_add takes snap: true (page paths and the comments already drawn) (and snap_tolerance, in points on the displayed page, 6 by default) and reports how many points moved (snapped), so a script placing a polyline from measured coordinates gets the same corners a hand would.

How it works

  • The same bounded path extraction as measurement snapping (pdfcraft_measure::snap::{Geometry, SnapOptions, snap, constrain} over Document::measurement_paths(page)), cached in the comment view per page and edit generation (SnapCache), so a page is extracted once until it changes; the extraction's limit notices (too many paths, a page without vector content) show once per page as a toast, as the measuring tools' do.
  • UI: CommentPrefs.snap (persisted as comment_snap), CommentTool::snaps() says which tools take part, PageCx::snapped(p) resolves a pointer position to the snapped page point and its kind (the tolerance is 6 screen points converted at the page's current scale), used by the drag-drawn shapes and the click-placed points alike; paint_snap_marker draws the ring and label. Registry command comment.snap (Document menu, F3) toggles it with a toast.
  • Automation: snap_shape(shape, &geometry, tolerance) moves each point of a shape to its snap target when one is within the tolerance and counts the moves; the tolerance is converted from displayed-page points to user space through measurement_to_user.
  • pdfcraft_measure::snap, for both snapping tools: the extraction limits have room for a CAD plan (Limits: two million segments and 256 MiB of content per page by default, where the old 20,000 segments kept only an A0 floor plan's frame and title block and a content stream over 16 MiB was skipped whole; tests pass smaller limits through geometry_within), and Geometry files its targets and segments in a grid of cells on the first query, so a query looks at the pointer's neighbourhood: on a floor plan with 864,000 segments a query took 27 ms before and takes under a millisecond now (extraction itself 0.5–0.8 s, once per page). Segments spanning many cells (a frame, an axis) go into a short list checked every time, so results are exactly those of a search over everything, which a test asserts.

Not yet

Snapping to raster or text outlines; snapping while a shape is resized. (A choice of targets for the drawing tools and snapping while a comment is moved, by Tab's reference point, or a line's end is dragged came in later rounds, see the comments.)

How you verified it

  • cargo fmt --all -- --check
  • cargo clippy -p pdfcraft-engine -p pdfcraft-automation -p pdfcraft-ui-egui --all-targets -- -D warnings
  • cargo test -p pdfcraft-measure, cargo test -p pdfcraft-engine -p pdfcraft-automation, cargo test -p pdfcraft-ui-egui (lib and --test it, since Build each crate's integration tests as one binary #4087 one binary)
  • cargo xtask parity, cargo xtask layers

Tests. crates/measure/src/tests.rs::grid_queries_match_a_search_over_everything (a frame, axes, a hatch, scattered lines and curves: 300 query points at three tolerances and four option sets give the same answers through the grid as a search over every target and segment; the existing limit tests run under explicit small limits, and the property test too). crates/ui-egui/tests/comments.rs::drawing_tools_snap_to_the_pages_paths_with_f3: on a page with two crossing lines, a rectangle dragged near the lines' intersection and endpoint lands on them with snapping on (F3), and stays where the pointer was with it off. crates/automation/tests/automation.rs::comment_add_snaps_points_to_the_drawing_on_request: a polyline added with snap: true has two of three points moved onto the drawing (snapped == 2), the third left alone, as the exported XFDF shows. tests/commands.rs::every_registered_command_is_implemented covers comment.snap; the i18n coverage tests cover the new labels in all 22 catalogs.

Never-crash

No new unwrap/expect/panic! outside tests. snap_tolerance must be finite and within 0..=1000 or the tool refuses it; the geometry extraction keeps the measuring tools' bounds on path count; a page without geometry simply doesn't snap. No unsafe.

Provenance

No new assets (Lucide circle-dot is already in assets/icons/), no fonts, no copied code. The behaviour follows CAD object snap (BricsCAD, AutoCAD) and the app's own measurement snapping.

Security

--root confinement untouched; the tool takes a flag and a number, no paths.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Drawing tools can snap points to nearby page geometry, including endpoints, midpoints, intersections, and paths. Toggle snapping with F3 or the quick-bar control, and cycle between targets with Tab and Shift+Tab.
    • Fill & Sign marks and moved or resized comments can also snap to drawing geometry. Snap settings and target preferences are saved between sessions.
    • Measurement snapping now includes centres of closed shapes and table cells, using the shared snap-target preferences.
    • Automation can optionally snap newly added comments to page geometry and report how many points were adjusted.

Walkthrough

The pull request adds drawing-geometry snapping for annotation tools, comment editing, Fill & Sign, measurement, and automation. It adds bounded geometry extraction, configurable snap targets and tolerance, target cycling, cached geometry, and snap preference persistence.

Changes: Drawing and comment snapping

Layer / File(s) Summary
Bounded, indexed snap geometry
crates/measure/src/snap.rs, crates/measure/src/tests.rs, crates/measure/tests/snap_property.rs, ROADMAP.md, parity/acrobat-features.toml
Geometry extraction now accepts configurable segment and byte limits. Snap queries use a spatial grid and can return ordered endpoint, centre, midpoint, intersection, and path candidates. Tests cover extraction limits, query results, candidate ordering, centres, and enclosing boxes.
Snap preferences and page geometry wiring
crates/engine/src/commands.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/commands.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/canvas.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/comments.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/lib.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/measure_ui.rs, ATTRIBUTION.md, ATTRIBUTION.toml
The interface adds a snap command, page-geometry caching, shared snap-target preferences, Tab cycling, and preference persistence. Measurement controls use the shared snap targets. Translation attribution records are updated for snapping labels.
Drawing, placement, and comment editing
crates/ui-egui/src/comments.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/fill_sign.rs, crates/ui-egui/src/signature_drag.rs, crates/ui-egui/tests/it/comments.rs, docs/ui-parity.md, ROADMAP.md, parity/acrobat-features.toml
Eligible drawing and Fill & Sign tools snap placed points or marks. Comment moves, resizes, and reshapes can snap to geometry; keyboard input cycles targets and selects move anchors. The interface displays snap indicators. Integration tests cover placement, editing, cycling, caching, and persistence.
Automation snapping options
crates/automation/src/comments.rs, crates/automation/src/measure.rs, crates/automation/src/tools.rs, crates/automation/tests/it/automation.rs
comment_add accepts snap and snap_tolerance options and reports the number of snapped points when enabled. Measurement automation supports centre targets. Tests verify snapped polyline output and tolerance validation.

Possibly related issues

  • Issue 2078 requests a snapping tool. This pull request adds drawing-path snapping with toggle controls, selectable targets, and tolerance handling.
  • Issue 4055 reports that complex drawings exceed the snapping limit. This pull request adds bounded extraction and spatial queries, but geometry extraction still has configured caps.

Suggested reviewers: marekspodbiedry, excited-raccoon, bartalos86

Merge Risk: Low · previous review fd658

With snapping enabled, hovering over a multi-page drawing can briefly stall the interface while nearby pages are processed. The issue is bounded, but page-local extraction should be addressed.

Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to fd658

Snapping preserves the existing document-edit permission checks, but dense or malicious drawings can now cause substantially larger allocations and sorting work during interactive use or automated annotation placement. The exposure requires an opened document and snapping activity; no privilege escalation or cross-document access was established.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: Untrusted PDF geometry can drive a much larger synchronous snapping working set. Extraction now permits 100 times as many segments, while each snap collects and sorts qualifying discrete targets before applying the small returned-candidate limit. Dense geometry can defeat spatial locality even at ordinary pointer tolerance; automation repeats this work for each supported shape point. This materially worsens process-local availability exposure compared with the lower extraction ceilings and single-best-target selection at the PR base. A freeze or memory-exhaustion outcome is inferred, not experimentally demonstrated.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The supported attack scope is availability of the process handling an opened attacker-authored PDF. The UI path requires snapping to be enabled and an eligible tool over the canvas; automation requires a snapping request against an open document. Existing measurement callers also inherit the enlarged shared geometry limits. The inspected flow does not establish cross-tenant access, credential exposure, or increased edit authority.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — A PDF author can concentrate many valid segments and targets near a snap location. Neighborhood lookup then materializes large index vectors, and candidate selection retains qualifying targets and sorts them before truncating the returned set. Repeated pointer queries or multiple automation vertices repeat this work. This supports the resource-amplification concern, but an actual crash or measured denial of service was not demonstrated.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The untrusted-content boundary retains finite segment and decoded-byte budgets, nesting and stream limits, coordinate and tolerance validation, and a 256-segment bound on local intersection pairing. These controls limit extraction and quadratic intersection work, but do not make candidate working memory proportional to the returned-candidate limit.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Inspected gesture paths preserve page-qualified edits, gate initiation on annotation eligibility and permissions, and clear transient state on cancellation or edit refusal. Normal undo and redo refresh document-derived state. These recovery controls contain ordinary edit failures; they do not contain the earlier synchronous geometry allocation workload.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Bound candidate working storage during selection rather than after full accumulation, and establish an aggregate geometry memory or work budget across cached pages. Where work is curtailed, expose incomplete snapping explicitly. These are proposed containment measures, not existing controls.

Explanation

The title names the main change: snapping comment drawing points to the page's vector drawing (object snap) for the drawing tools, bound to the F3 key. The changeset adds this feature, including the F3 toggle, the quick-bar button, and the automation snap option, so the title is specific and matches the changeset.

… under the pointer only

CodeRabbit on storytold#3545: the cache held one page's paths, so with two pages on screen each page
threw the other's out and the paths were extracted again every frame (up to a second a page
on an A0 plan), and the limit notice came back every frame with them. The cache now keeps up
to four pages for the current edit generation (an edit starts over), and the canvas asks for
a page's paths only while the pointer is over it or dragging on it. Test: a second page's
paths leave the first's in place; a new generation reads them once.

Thanks, that was a real one. Addressed in b37ef03:

  • SnapCache keeps only one page (comments.rs): the cache now keeps up to four pages' paths for the current edit generation (Vec<(page, generation, Arc<Geometry>)>, oldest out first; a new generation clears it), and warned is a list of (page, generation) so each page's limit notice shows once per generation. Two pages on screen no longer evict each other.
  • The canvas asks for a page's paths only while the pointer is over that page or dragging on it (resp.hovered() || resp.dragged()), so a page merely on screen is not extracted at all.
  • Test snap_paths_stay_cached_per_page_until_an_edit (tests/comments.rs): page 0's Arc stays the same across a use of page 1, and a new generation reads it once.

Extraction off the UI thread (or keyed on page content rather than the edit generation, since comments don't change the content stream) is a sensible follow-up; left out of this PR.

Rebased onto current main (it had fallen into conflict with the tests appended since), and two follow-ups from using it on real plans:

  • Snap to drawing for text boxes, notes, callouts and Fill & Sign marks (30320ff). A sticky note's or text box's corner, the point a callout's arrow touches and where Fill & Sign text goes now land on the page's paths as the drawing tools' points do, with the same marker. A Fill & Sign tick, cross or dot clicked inside a small box drawn on the page (a check box in a form or protocol, a table cell up to ten marks long and three high) goes to the box's centre: Geometry::enclosing_box finds the nearest horizontal and vertical rule on each side of the point, and SnapKind::Centre names it under the pointer ("Centre point", in all 22 catalogs). The Fill & Sign quick bar has the Snap switch too; signatures don't snap. Tests: crates/measure/src/tests.rs::the_box_around_a_point_is_found_for_check_boxes_and_cells, crates/ui-egui/tests/comments.rs::marks_and_text_boxes_snap_with_f3.

  • Snap targets to choose, centres, Tab, snapping while moving and resizing (f6c8f24). The targets are the user's choice now, one choice for commenting and measuring (a menu beside the Snap switch and the measuring panel's boxes, remembered): endpoints, midpoints, centres, intersections, paths. Centres are new: of rectangles, circles, closed polygons, filled subpaths, and of the table cell around the point. Geometry::candidates lists every target in reach, nearest first (endpoints and centres before a mere path); Tab over the marker moves on to the next, Shift+Tab back (the app takes the key in raw_input_hook, before egui's focus traversal). With the Select tool a moved comment snaps by its corner nearest a target (a Fill & Sign mark by its centre), a resize handle by itself. measure_snap takes centres. Tests: crates/measure/src/tests.rs::centres_of_closed_figures_and_cells_are_snap_targets, crates/ui-egui/tests/comments.rs::moved_comments_snap_by_their_corners_and_marks_by_their_centre, crates/ui-egui/src/comments.rs::tab_presses_are_taken_for_cycling_snap_targets.

Gates on this head (f6c8f24): fmt, clippy -D warnings (measure, automation, ui-egui), tests measure 23+2, automation snap|measure 4, ui-egui lib 473 / comments 55 / fill_sign 27, xtask parity.

…te range; the marker's name in the notes

CodeRabbit on storytold#3545:
- candidates() sorted with "within 1e-9 counts as the same distance" compared pair by pair,
which isn't transitive (three targets at 0, 0.6e-9 and 1.2e-9 made a cycle); since Rust
1.81 sort_by may panic on such an order, and a crafted PDF hovered over could have hit it.
candidate_order is a total order: the distance to a billionth of a unit, then the kind,
then the exact distance. Test: candidate_order_is_total_at_nearly_the_same_distance (fails
  with the old comparison).
- A closed figure's centre wasn't checked like every other target: one far beyond the
coordinate range (or infinite, from a huge cm) spread the snap grid over everything. Test:
  a_centre_out_of_range_is_no_snap_target (fails without the check).
- The parity notes still named the marker "Box centre"; it is "Centre point". SnapKind::Centre's
doc no longer says snap() never gives it.

Rebased on main (d5047aa4). Since the last round:

  • Reference point while moving (Tab). Moving a comment with Snap to drawing on, the corner nearest a target snapped onto it, so which point of a box ended up on a plan's corner depended on which corner came near something first. Tab now picks the point that goes onto the target: a box's corners, the middles of its sides and its centre (clockwise from the bottom left, the centre last), a line's ends and middle, connected lines' and polygons' corners and then their centre. The next point goes where the one in use is, so the target stays and the comment moves about it; Shift+Tab goes back. A square and "Reference point: Top left (Tab: next)" show which point is in use. Until Tab is pressed, whichever corner comes near a target snaps, as before. Test: tab_picks_the_point_of_a_moved_comment_that_goes_onto_the_target.
  • Line handles. With M5: drag a line's ends (and a polygon's corners) to change its length and angle #3788 on main, a line's end dragged with the Select tool lands on a target (Shift holds the angle instead), and a line, connected lines or a polygon moved by its body snaps by its ends or corners. Test: line_ends_snap_when_dragged_and_lines_by_their_ends_when_moved.
  • Measuring panel. The shared snap target boxes wrap side by side there again; one under another they pushed the new page-unit scale controls' Apply scale out of the panel (control::a_1_to_50_scale_in_millimetres_measures_a_10_mm_line_as_500_mm caught it).
  • i18n. The new labels are in the Catalan, Finnish, Romanian, Albanian, Hindi, Korean and Indonesian catalogs too, whose tests ask for every key.
  • A dragged text box (Small UI issues: Cmd+G in the find field, comment editor keeps keyboard focus, text box ignores drag, Print on print-restricted PDFs, slow Comments panel with 5,000 comments #2669) snaps its corners as a clicked one does.

The changed catalogs are recorded in ATTRIBUTION.toml (new SHA-256, provenance note), so cargo xtask assets passes.

Gates: fmt, clippy -D warnings (measure, automation, engine, ui-egui), cargo test on those crates (ui-egui --test it complete), xtask parity, xtask layers, xtask assets. It merges cleanly with today's main (39844f06). The description's Not yet is updated: snapping while a comment is moved or reshaped and a choice of targets are in.

Rebased onto main, with two changes:

  • The comments already drawn snap too (asked for by a user joining lines end to end on a plan): lines and arrows, connected lines, polygons and clouds, rectangles and ovals (where they are drawn: inside /RD and half the border) give their ends and corners, side middles, centres and the lines themselves. The comment being moved, resized or reshaped is left out, so it doesn't cling to where it was; hidden comments don't snap. measure::snap::{comment_outlines, outline_geometry} build a second, small geometry beside the page's, cached per edit (the page's paths aren't extracted again for it); candidates from both are merged points first, then the nearest path. Document::comment_paths; comment_add snap takes them too. Tests: measure … comments_drawn_with_lines_snap_by_their_ends_middles_and_centres, ui-egui … new_lines_snap_to_the_comments_already_drawn (fails without the exclusion: a resized rectangle's corner clings to its own side), automation … snap_takes_the_comments_already_drawn. drawing_tools_snap_to_the_pages_paths_with_f3 now takes back its unsnapped polyline first, as its corners would otherwise be the nearest targets.
  • Shift's 45° hold while drawing is out of this PR. Shift now holds lines level or plumb (a CAD drawing's ortho), proposed on its own in M5: Shift holds lines level or plumb while drawing (ortho) #4285; whichever lands second runs the snapped point through held().

From the rebase: measure/src/snap.rs takes main's failed-decode byte budget and the /XObject resources read once per stream; the walker's per-stream geometry keeps this PR's limits (one path, not two).

Gates: fmt, clippy -D warnings (measure, engine, automation, ui-egui), measure 31, engine 334, automation 17, ui-egui lib 548 and comments:: fill_sign:: measure 109, parity, layers, assets.

Rebased onto main (a7801dc8). main's new upright-note unit test builds a PageCx, which has the snap fields here (bb4efc7), and the comment tests added here call support::settle, since #4242 took comments.rs' own settle (779e30e).

From testing (87e352a, 7a40eca): a framed label's corner wasn't a snap target, only the page's paths and the shapes' outlines were. Text with a border (text boxes, typed text, callouts) now snaps by its frame: corners, side middles, centre and the lines, a callout's box inside /RD. Text without a border snaps by its box's corners, side middles and centre only (Outline::TextBox): labels line up with one another, and the box's sides, which aren't drawn, don't catch the pointer.

Test: crates/measure/src/tests.rs::framed_text_snaps_by_its_frame.

Gates on the rebased head: fmt, clippy -D warnings, engine 360, measure 32, automation 269, ui-egui lib 503 and the UI test binary 1114, parity, layers, assets.

Rebased onto main (168a3cb9). Main's new freehand highlight joins Ink and the eraser in the freehand branch of the drawing input, which takes the pointer as it is, as on main. The UI comment tests met; both sides are kept.

Gates on this head: cargo fmt --check, clippy -D warnings and the tests of automation, engine, measure, ui-egui (2921 passed), xtask layers, assets, license-check, parity.

ohagmann and others added 24 commits November 3, 2026 06:43
With Snap to drawing on (F3, or the button on the drawing tools' quick bar; remembered across
starts), the points of connected lines, polygons, clouds, lines, arrows, rectangles and ovals
land on the page's own vector paths: endpoints, midpoints, intersections and the paths
themselves, within 6 screen points, with the measuring tools' green ring and the target's name
under the pointer. Shift holds a line or the next segment to the nearest 45°. The same bounded
path extraction as measurement snapping (pdfcraft_measure::snap), cached per page and edit
generation in the comment view; its limit notices show once per page.

Headless: comment_add takes snap: true (and snap_tolerance, in points on the displayed page) and
reports how many points moved. Registry command comment.snap; parity comment.snap-to-drawing.

…, grid-indexed queries

An A0 floor plan from CAD holds 600,000 to 900,000 segments. Path extraction stopped at
20,000 (and 40,000 targets), which kept the sheet's frame and title block and nothing of the
drawing, and a content stream over 16 MiB was skipped whole, so the drawing tools' snap (and
measuring's) found nothing on such plans.

pdfcraft_measure::snap now extracts within Limits (two million segments and 256 MiB of
content per page by default; geometry_within takes others, which the limit tests and the
property test use), targets follow the segment cap (at most three per segment), and Geometry
files its targets and segments in a square grid of cells on the first query (up to 512 a
side; segments spanning more than 16 cells, such as a frame or an axis, go into a short list
checked on every query). A query looks at the cells the tolerance box overlaps, so on a plan
with 864,000 segments it takes under a millisecond where it took 27 ms; extraction itself is
0.5–0.8 s, once per page and edit. The results are exactly those of a search over everything
(same order, same ties, same 256-segment cap on intersections), which a new test asserts over
300 query points, three tolerances and four option sets on a drawing with a frame, axes, a
hatch, scattered lines and curves.

Snapping reached the drawing tools only: a text box, a sticky note or a Fill & Sign tick
went exactly where it was clicked, so a cross for a check box in a protocol, or a label on a
plan's line, had to be aimed by eye. With Snap to drawing on (F3), a note's or text box's
corner, the point a callout's arrow touches and where Fill & Sign text goes now land on the
page's paths as the drawing tools' points do, with the same marker. A tick, cross or dot
clicked inside a small box drawn on the page (a check box, a table cell up to four marks
across) goes to the box's centre: Geometry::enclosing_box finds the nearest horizontal and
vertical rule on each side of the point, and SnapKind::Centre ("Box centre") names it under
the pointer. The Fill & Sign quick bar has the Snap switch as well. Signatures don't snap.

…ile moving and resizing

CAD's object snap, closer: the targets are the user's choice now, one choice for commenting
and measuring (a menu beside the Snap switch, the measuring panel's boxes; remembered as
`snap_targets`): endpoints, midpoints, centres, intersections and paths.

- Centres are new targets: of rectangles, circles (four curves round), closed polygons and
every filled subpath (each its box's centre, recorded during extraction), and of the table
cell or box drawn of separate lines around the point.
- Geometry::candidates lists every target in reach, nearest first (at the same distance:
  endpoint, centre, midpoint, intersection), each point once, then the nearest point on a path;
Geometry::snap is its first. Tab over the marker moves on to the next candidate, Shift+Tab
back; the app takes the key in raw_input_hook, before egui's focus traversal would hand the
keyboard to a toolbar button (and keep it there).
- With the Select tool, a comment that is moved snaps by its corner nearest a target (a point
target beats a mere path), a Fill & Sign mark by its centre as when it is placed, and a resize
handle by itself; the marker shows where, and the preview moves with it.

measure_snap takes `centres`. The marker names a centre "Centre point".

…r ends and corners when moved

With line handles on main (storytold#3788), a line's end or a polygon's corner dragged with the Select tool
lands on a snap target in reach (Shift holds the angle instead), drawn there while it is dragged;
a line, connected lines or a polygon moved by its body snaps by its ends or corners rather than by
its box's corners.

Moving a comment, the corner nearest a target snapped onto it, so which point of a box ended up
on a plan's corner depended on which corner came near something first. While a comment is moved
with Snap to drawing on, Tab now picks the point that goes onto the target: a box's corners, the
middles of its sides and its centre (clockwise from the bottom left, the centre last), a line's
ends and middle, connected lines' and polygons' corners and then their centre. The next point
goes where the one in use is, so the target stays and the comment moves about it; Shift+Tab goes
back. A square and "Reference point: Top left (Tab: next)" show which point is in use. Until Tab is
pressed, whichever corner comes near a target snaps, as before; the next move starts afresh.

Tab goes to the moved comment rather than to the targets under the pointer while a move is on
(raw_input_hook); PageCx::snap_move reports the anchor that snapped, which Tab starts from.

The shared snap target boxes went one under another in the measuring panel too, which pushed the
drawing scale's Apply scale below the panel. There they wrap side by side again, without the Tab
hint (the quick bar's menu keeps the list and the hint).

With Snap to drawing on, only the page's own paths snapped, so lines
drawn as comments could not be joined end to end. The comments drawn
with lines (lines and arrows, connected lines, polygons and clouds,
rectangles, ovals) now snap like the page's paths: their ends and
corners, the middles of their sides, the centres of closed ones and the
lines themselves, rectangles and ovals where they are drawn (inside /RD
and half the border). A comment being moved, resized or reshaped is left
out, so it doesn't cling to where it was; hidden comments don't snap.

measure::snap::{comment_outlines, outline_geometry}, a second, small
geometry beside the page's (cached per edit), candidates merged with
points before paths. Document::comment_paths; comment_add snap takes the
comments too.

Snap to drawing held a line, or the next side of connected lines, to
the nearest 45 degrees with Shift. That is its own change (Shift holds
lines level or plumb, a CAD drawing's ortho mode), proposed apart from
snapping, so the two can be reviewed and merged on their own.

A text box's, typed text's or callout's frame is drawn with lines, but
only the page's paths and the shapes' outlines snapped, so a line couldn't
start at a framed label's corner (a tester's report). Text with a border
now snaps by its frame: corners, side middles, centre and the lines, a
callout's box inside /RD; text without a border doesn't.

…and centre

Labels line up with what is drawn without a frame around them; the box's
sides, which aren't drawn, don't snap, so a plan full of labels doesn't
catch the pointer on lines nobody sees (Outline::TextBox).

`resp` is the one widget that holds every page, so `resp.hovered()` was true
for each page on screen and a hover read the paths of all of them. Since the
rebase onto main's `draw_page` the page is the one whose rectangle has the
pointer, or the one a gesture runs on. `SnapCache::cached_pages` lets the test
see which pages were read.

Rebased onto main (14ae839a, 0.18.0). Only the French and Turkish catalogs met: main's new rows come first, this PR's after them. No code changed.

Gates on this head: cargo fmt --check, clippy -D warnings and the tests of automation, engine, measure, ui-egui (2927 passed), xtask layers, assets, license-check, parity.
