Export overwrites footage without confirmation #1743

Open

Description

@halfninja

Steps to reproduce

  • Create a new project
  • Save it in the same directory as some .mp4 footage
  • Import File and select an .mp4 from the same directory
  • Drag the video into the bottom panel to create a composition
  • Add to render queue
  • Click Render on the queue panel

The composition that is created has the same name as the footage, which is used as the render output under the project folder, and the render process doesn't confirm whether to overwrite an existing file. As a result the footage is overwritten.

If the render process could confirm before overwrite it might obviate the other problems.

    Open PR #1758 says it fixes this issue, and GitHub has it linked. With that PR, a render never writes over footage, proxies or the project file, and it asks Replace / Cancel before replacing any other existing file. The CLI needs --overwrite for that, and scripts or MCP need overwrite: true. It also adds tests (tests_render_overwrite.rs, tests_export_overwrite.rs, ui_render_overwrite.rs). Related: #1320 (#1230) keeps the previous output when an overwrite is cancelled or fails.
