Frame-click selection behavior crates/engine/src/tools.rs, crates/engine/src/tests.rs, docs/ui-parity.md, ROADMAP.md |
Frame-band clicks no longer enter text editing. Tests cover selecting, moving, and deleting a text box, interior text editing, and plain-shape behavior. The documentation records frame selection. |

Explanation
[
#787] Requirement: a click on the frame of a new or placed text box selects the box, so it can be moved, duplicated with a modifier key, or deleted with the Delete key. The diff incrates/engine/src/tools.rs(Session::down) adds anon_framecheck. It is true when the shape has text,is_text_firstholds, andedit_zone(...) == EditZone::Frame. Whenon_frameis true,enter_textisNone, so the press selects the shape without starting text entry. The inside of the box keeps the caret. Tables, Shift/Cmd toggling, and plain shapes keep the previous conditions. The new testclicking_the_frame_of_a_text_box_selects_it_wholecovers frame edges and corners inside and outside the box, drag-to-move, caret placement from an inside click, and Delete viaedit.delete. The testclicking_the_frame_of_a_selected_plain_shape_still_takes_the_caretchecks the plain-shape boundary. Limits: I did not run the tests. I did not read theis_text_firstdefinition, so the text-box and placeholder scope is inferred from the existing code and the test names. The modifier-key duplicate is not tested directly; it uses the existing move path once the shape is selected. The new-box creation path is not separately exercised by the test.

A click on the frame band of an unselected or selected text box or placeholder started text editing, so the box could not be selected, moved, duplicated or deleted from its frame. The frame band now selects the box whole, like PowerPoint; only a click inside takes the caret. Fixes #787.
Problem
Clicking the frame of a text box or placeholder that was not being edited started text entry, so the box could not be selected from its edge, and so could not be moved, duplicated (modifier key) or deleted with the Delete key. PowerPoint selects the box whole there. (
Hit::Framealready did this for a box that is being edited.)Fix
Session::down(crates/engine/src/tools.rs): a press on the frame band (edit_zone == Frame, the same bandHit::Frameuses) of a text-holding shape selects it whole and does not enter text editing. A click inside the box still puts the caret there. Tables, toggling with Shift/Cmd and other shapes are unchanged.clicking_the_frame_of_a_text_box_selects_it_whole: edges and corners inside and just outside the box select without entering text; dragging the frame moves the box; a click inside takes the caret; Delete removes the box. It fails without the fix.docs/ui-parity.mdrow, status line and revision history, and aROADMAP.mdprogress-log line.Checks

Theui-eguiGUI tests that need a GPU adapter, andreplacefonts_tests::ribbon_button_opens_the_dialog_and_replaces(fails the same way without this change), could not be judged here, so please rely on CI for them.
