Charts: a written chart carries the text sizes it is drawn at - #1296
A chart written from the model (every chart made in DeckCraft, and an edited one) had no text sizes in its XML. PowerPoint then draws its axis labels and legend at its 10 pt default and its title at 18 pt, whatever the chart's size. DeckCraft draws them sized to the chart, so a DeckCraft-made chart looked quite different once opened in PowerPoint.
Evidence
A synthetic deck written by DeckCraft, with a 560×360 and a 300×200 column chart, each with a title and a legend, exported as PDF from PowerPoint for Mac 16.114 (sizes measured from the PDF's word boxes):
DeckCraft draws
PowerPoint before
PowerPoint after
560×360: axes, legend / title
16 / 22 pt
10 / 18 pt
16 / 22 pt
300×200: axes, legend / title
9 / 13 pt
10 / 18 pt
9 / 13 pt
The first run, with sizes of 16.36 and 22.91 pt written, showed that PowerPoint draws chart text at whole points (16.36 → 16, 22.91 → 23, 12.73 → 13, 9.09 → 9). So DeckCraft's automatic sizes are now whole points too, and the two agree exactly.
On a private corpus of 166 real-world decks (3,690 slides compared with PowerPoint's PDF exports), nothing changes, as expected: PowerPoint's own charts carry their sizes and are written back from their kept part.
How
Chart::text_sizes(w, h) (model) holds the rule the renderer used: the file's sizes, otherwise min(w, h) / 22 clamped to 7–18 pt, with the title 1.4 times that, now rounded to whole points. The renderer and the writer both use it.
write/chart.rs: chart_xml_in(c, frame) writes those sizes for the chart's frame (chart_rel passes the shape's size). They go where Chart text can be coloured (chart.options textColor, format.color) and follows the theme by default #1015's text colour already goes: the c:txPr on the axes, the legend, the data labels and the chart (c:chartSpace/c:txPr, after c:spPr), now also written when there's a size but no colour, with both in the same a:defRPr. The title's and the axis titles' rich text gets a:pPr/a:defRPr sz. A file's own text_size/title_size are written back as they are. An unchanged chart still goes back as its original part.
chart_xml(c) stays as a test helper.
Rebased on main after #1015 (chart text colour) landed through #1260; the sizes now share its c:txPr. Re-probed in PowerPoint: still 16 / 22 pt and 9 / 13 pt, and the corpus is still unchanged.
#1053 (albayazid) writes back the sizes a file gave a chart (axes, legend, labels, title) after chart.data. This PR covers charts without sizes (DeckCraft's own) and the chart-wide size. The two touch the same writer functions, so whichever lands second needs a rebase. Both points in skylartaylor's review there match what this PR writes: the chart-wide size as c:chartSpace/c:txPr after c:spPr, and the title size in the rich text.
A chart written for a 560×360 frame reads back as 16 / 22 pt, the sizes the renderer draws. The XML has the chart-wide c:txPr and the title and axis-title sizes.
A 300×200 frame gives 9 / 13 pt.
A file's own 11.97 / 18.62 pt survive, with or without a frame.
Without a frame or sizes, nothing is written.
With a text colour too, both go in the same a:defRPr and read back.
cargo xtask ci: fmt, clippy, pdf-deps, assets, layers and wasm pass, and so do the doctests. cargo test --workspace --no-fail-fast passes 2,112 tests, with one failure, backstage::tests::start_screen_opens_the_palette_and_preferences (a panic in egui's font code since the egui 0.37 migration), which fails the same way on main.
Not in this PR
In the probe PowerPoint also draws the chart title bold and the gridlines darker than DeckCraft does.

Bug Fixes
Exported PowerPoint charts now retain the text sizes used when drawing, including chart text, titles, and axis titles.
Charts with automatically sized text use whole-point sizes based on chart dimensions for more consistent results.
Existing chart text sizes are preserved when frame dimensions are unavailable.
Automatic title sizes scale with the chart’s base text size, while configured text and title sizes remain in effect.
Data labels use sizes appropriate to the chart type, helping them match the overall chart presentation.

Walkthrough
Chart rendering and PPTX export now use shared chart text sizing. PPTX export can derive text and title sizes from frame dimensions and writes those sizes to chart text properties, titles, axis titles, and data labels.

Before / after behavior
observed — Modified behavior in crates/pptx/src/write/mod.rs: Exp::chart_rel adds an optional chart-frame size in points and passes it to chart::chart_xml_in; the previous call to chart::chart_xml did not provide frame dimensions.
observed — Modified behavior in crates/pptx/src/write/shapes.rs: The plain-chart fallback now passes s.xfrm dimensions as an optional (w, h) argument to chart_rel; previously, it called chart_rel without dimensions.
observed — Modified behavior in ROADMAP.md: The progress log adds a chart-export entry: PPTX charts store DeckCraft’s rendered text sizes in c:txPr and title and axis-title rich text; automatic chart text sizes use whole points.
observed — Modified behavior in ROADMAP.md: Revision history adds a trivial entry for the chart text-size progress-log update.

A chart written from the model (any chart made or edited in DeckCraft)
had no text sizes in its XML, so PowerPoint drew its axis labels and
legend at its 10 pt default and its title at 18 pt, whatever the chart's
size, while DeckCraft draws them sized to the chart. A synthetic deck
with a 560 x 360 and a 300 x 200 chart, exported as PDF, showed exactly
that; with the sizes written it shows what DeckCraft draws.
- Chart::text_sizes(w, h) holds the rule the renderer used (the file's
sizes, else min(w, h) / 22 clamped to 7-18 pt, the title 1.4 times
that); the renderer and the writer both use it.
- Automatic sizes are whole points: PowerPoint for Mac draws chart text
at whole points (16.36 pt shows at 16 pt).
- chart_xml_in(c, frame) writes those sizes for the chart's frame: in the
c:txPr the chart already writes for its text colour (axes, legend, data
labels, the chart), now also written for a size alone, and as
a:defRPr sz in the title's and axis titles' rich text. A file's own
sizes are written back as they are; an unchanged chart still keeps its
original part.

A column, bar or radar chart draws its data labels at 0.9 of the chart's text size, so their c:dLbls
carries that size; a pie's are drawn at the full size.
I checked the PowerPoint claim in this PR against real PowerPoint on Windows (COM). I did not build or run the Rust code, so the new test was not run by me. Note that this PR currently conflicts with main (merge state DIRTY); I reviewed the diff at 5f5044d.
What I ran: I made a 560×360 column chart with a title, a category-axis title and a legend through PowerPoint, saved it, and edited chart1.xml by hand to the two forms this PR distinguishes.
With every sz removed, which is what a DeckCraft-written chart carries today: PowerPoint reports the chart title at 18 pt, the axis title at 10 pt, and the axis tick labels and legend at 10 pt.
With sz written on the chart title (2200) and on every other a:defRPr (1600), the shape this PR writes: it reports title 22 pt and axis title, tick labels and legend all 16 pt.
So the premise holds on Windows PowerPoint as well as on Mac: without sizes PowerPoint falls back to 10/18 pt whatever the chart size, and it takes the written sizes as they are. I did not check the "whole points" rounding, the 7–18 pt clamp, or the 0.9 factor for bar data labels. I read the sizes through COM Font.Size, not from PDF word boxes, and I did not open a file written by DeckCraft.
