Milestone
Description
Research-backed TODO
CodexClaw currently depends on a configured local workdir and Codex CLI command. Mature local agent tools make the active project and runtime health obvious before a run starts.
Acceptance criteria
- Users can add, rename, remove, and switch local workspaces from the app UI.
- Each workspace stores Codex CLI command, workdir, sandbox default, and state directory independently.
- A health panel shows Codex CLI version, auth availability, git repo status, Node/pnpm status, and writable state path.
- Failed checks include copyable fix commands and do not start a Codex run accidentally.
Public research basis
- OpenAI Codex CLI documents local install/auth paths and multiple app surfaces.
- OpenHands documents a Local GUI with REST API and single-page React app.
- Aider’s quickstart starts from an existing codebase path, making the project boundary explicit.
Non-goals
- No hosted workspace sync.
- No multi-user account model.
Source set
- OpenAI Codex CLI - local terminal coding agent, installer paths, IDE/desktop context.
- OpenHands - local GUI with REST API + SPA, CLI, cloud collaboration/integrations.
- Aider - repo maps, git integration, image/web context, lint/test loops.
- Continue - source-controlled AI checks as markdown agents in CI.
- Open SWE - isolated sandboxes, AGENTS.md context, curated tools, subagents, Slack/Linear handoff.
- Model Context Protocol servers - tool/server registry pattern, filesystem/git/memory/fetch examples, security warnings.
- Open WebUI - responsive/PWA UI, RAG/web browsing, artifact storage, permissions.
- OpenCode - coding-agent modes, plan/build separation, subagent pattern.
- Cline - autonomous coding agent as SDK, IDE extension, and CLI assistant.
- Roo Code - agent-oriented coding workflow inside the editor.
