CircuitPal.AI is an AI-powered electronics project planning assistant that helps makers and hardware enthusiasts design, plan, and manage their builds without drowning in browser tabs, scattered parts lists, and guesswork inventory tracking.
Describe a project idea, and CircuitPal.AI's assistant — powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash — analyzes the requirements, generates a complete Bill of Materials, checks it against live CircuitRocks stock and pricing, and lays out a step-by-step roadmap to get from concept to first solder.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| 🤖 AI Copilot | Describe your project idea and get instant component recommendations and design guidance from Gemini 2.5 Flash. |
| 📋 Auto BOM Generation | Automatically builds a complete Bill of Materials based on your project's engineering requirements. |
| 📦 Stock Tracking | View live CircuitRocks stock availability and a dynamic price estimator directly in the BOM side panel. |
| 🗺️ Project Planning | Generates step-by-step roadmaps covering acquisition, assembly, and testing. |
| 🧰 Inventory Management | Tracks components you already own so you never buy duplicates. |
| 🔗 External Component Sourcing | Provides purchase links to external vendors for any part not available on CircuitRocks. |
| Layer | Technologies |
|---|---|
| Frontend | React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vite, Lucide React |
| Backend | Node.js, Express, TypeScript, Google Generative AI (Gemini) |
| Monorepo Management | npm workspaces, concurrently |
Make sure you have the following installed before getting started:
- Node.js v18 or higher
- npm (Node Package Manager)
1. Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/sillyCodeValley1/FEU-HACKATHON-2026.git
cd FEU-HACKATHON-20262. Install dependencies
This installs root, frontend, and backend dependencies in one go:
npm run install:all3. Configure environment variables
Navigate to the backend directory and create a .env file:
cd backend
touch .envAdd your Google Gemini API key:
GEMINI_API_KEY=your_gemini_api_key_here💡 No API key? No problem — the app gracefully falls back to mock AI responses so you can still explore the full experience.
From the root directory, start both servers at once:
npm run dev| Service | URL |
|---|---|
| Frontend | http://localhost:5173 |
| Backend API | http://localhost:4000 |
