What Are Radicals

Radicals are building blocks of kanji. All kanji characters are either a single radical or made up of two or more radicals. By memorizing kanji as a combination of parts rather than as a unique character, one greatly simplifies the learning process.

There are 214 radicals in total, not all of them being that important.
