Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added string-type access keys with a masked, revealable secret field. Secret values are encrypted and omitted from responses and backups.
    • String keys can serve as authentication secrets for supported token and HMAC integrations. The integration form offers compatible secrets based on the selected authentication method.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Invalid access-key types are rejected when creating or updating keys.
    • String keys are excluded from SSH and inventory credential selectors and rejected in unsupported credential fields, Git authentication, and host mappings.
    • Integration secrets are checked for compatibility with the selected method.
  • Documentation
    • Updated API documentation to describe string-type keys and their secret values.

Walkthrough

The change adds string as an access-key type, documents and validates it, and adds a web form for its secret value. Integration authentication can use compatible string secrets. Tests cover secret handling, credential restrictions, integration authentication, and backup and restore.

Changes: String Access-Key Support

Layer / File(s) Summary
Access-key type and API handling
db/AccessKey.go, db/AccessKey_test.go, api-docs.yml, api/projects/keys.go, api/projects/keys_test.go
The validator accepts ssh, none, login_password, and string. API documentation describes string keys and their secret values. API tests check encrypted storage, response omission, secret updates, and invalid-type rejection.
Integration authentication secrets
db/Integration.go, db/Integration_auth_test.go, api/integration.go, api/integration_test.go, api/projects/integration.go, api/projects/integration_auth_test.go, web/src/components/IntegrationForm.vue
Integration authentication methods define accepted key types and resolve shared verification secrets. API handlers validate secret ownership and compatibility. Request authentication uses the resolved secret, and the form filters choices by authentication method.
String-key form and credential selectors
web/src/components/KeyForm.vue, web/src/components/InventoryForm.vue, web/src/components/RepositoryForm.vue, web/src/components/TerraformInventoryForm.vue, web/src/lang/*
The key form adds a masked string-value field, validation, and guidance. Inventory, repository, and Terraform selectors filter out string keys. Locale files add labels, validation text, and usage guidance.
Credential-use and backup behavior
db_lib/GoGitClient_test.go, pkg/ssh/agent_test.go, services/tasks/local_executor_test.go, services/project/backup_test.go
Tests check string-key behavior in Git authentication, SSH installation, inventory credentials, and backup and restore. They verify expected errors and that unsupported credentials do not produce SSH-agent or password-prompt data. Backup tests check that secret values are omitted and that some host mappings reject string keys.
Ignore and docs reference updates
.gitignore, docs
The root ignore file excludes entries matching /AGENTS/tmp/*. The docs subproject reference changes to a new commit.

Allow name-only key updates to omit type.

helpers.Bind only decodes JSON, so an omitted type leaves key.Type empty. The new check then returns 400 Invalid key type before UpdateAccessKey, even though non-override updates only change name and preserve the stored type.

Use a password input for the string secret.

The new field defaults to a text input. The masked-secret-input class conceals the value only where its CSS masking works. If that masking is unavailable, the secret appears while showString is false. Set :type="showString ? 'text' : 'password'" so the closed state uses native password masking. (v2.vuetifyjs.com)

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reject unusable integration credentials in authSecretFits.

authSecretFits accepts a missing credential for every non-none method. It also accepts empty string or login/password credentials for token, HMAC, GitHub, and Bitbucket methods. Both create and update then persist the integration.

Delivery decrypts the credential before VerificationSecret() rejects an empty shared secret. It also rejects a missing BasicAuth credential because its type is not AccessKeyLoginPassword.

Add the usable-value check in authSecretFits, using the same deserialization path as delivery. This helper is already the shared validation boundary for create and update. An empty BasicAuth pair is not included because BasicAuth compares login and password directly instead of using VerificationSecret().
