⚔️ Zelda-TP-Native-Port - Play Twilight Princess natively on PC

This project brings The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to your Windows computer. It allows you to play the game without using an emulator like Dolphin or Cemu. You gain improved performance and visual stability.

📥 How to download the software

Visit this page to download the software. Look for the latest release on the right side of the screen. Choose the zip file that ends in .zip for your computer. Save this file to a folder you can find easily, such as your Downloads folder.

⚙️ System requirements

Your computer needs specific hardware to run this port smoothly. Check these requirements before you start:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 with at least 3.0 GHz.
  • Memory: 8 GB of RAM.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 with 4GB VRAM.
  • Storage: 10 GB of free disk space.
  • Display: A monitor that supports 1920x1080 resolution.

🚀 Setting up the game

  1. Open the folder where you saved the download.
  2. Right-click the zip file and choose Extract All.
  3. Choose a location on your hard drive to store the game files. Do not use a folder inside Program Files, as this can cause permission errors.
  4. Open the extracted folder.
  5. Connect your controller to your computer. This game works best with an Xbox or PlayStation style controller.
  6. Double-click the file named ZeldaTP.exe to start the game.

🎮 Configuring game settings

When you start the game, a settings window appears. Use these options to change how the game looks and runs.

  • Resolution: Select your monitor resolution here. 1920x1080 works for most users.
  • VSync: Turn this on to prevent screen tearing during movement.
  • FPS Limit: Set this to 60 for the intended frame rate.
  • Controller: The game automatically detects connected controllers. Check the mapping menu if your buttons do not work.

🖼️ Graphics and performance

This port includes support for modern display standards. You can enable high-definition textures if your computer meets the recommended hardware requirements. To do this, open the Graphics menu in the settings and toggle the Texture Pack option. The game will load the high-resolution assets when you restart.

If you experience slow performance, lower the shadow quality or turn off anti-aliasing in the graphics menu. These changes improve the frame rate on older hardware.

🗺️ Using game features

This software includes native support for common gameplay enhancements. You do not need external patches to enjoy these features.

  • Widescreen: The game automatically adjusts to a 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • HD Texture Support: You can install custom texture packs into the textures folder.
  • Camera Control: Use your right analog stick to control the camera.
  • Poe Soul Tracking: The game menu contains a map. Open the map to see the locations of remaining Poe souls.
  • Collection Guides: The pause menu tracks your progress for Golden Bugs and Heart Pieces.

⌨️ Controls

The game maps controls automatically based on standard layouts.

  • Left Stick: Move Link.
  • Right Stick: Control the camera.
  • A Button: Jump and confirm selections.
  • B Button: Use sword and cancel selections.
  • X and Y Buttons: Use assigned items.
  • Start Button: Open the main menu.
  • Back Button: Open the map screen.

You can change these assignments in the Input menu. Click on any button shown on the screen, then press the new button on your controller to update the command.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

If the game does not start, confirm that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. You can find these updates on the official website for your graphics card manufacturer.

If you see a missing file error, verify that you extracted all files from the zip folder. Sometimes, security software blocks the executable file. If this happens, add the game folder to your security software's exclusion list.

If the game crashes upon launch, delete the settings.ini file inside the game folder. The software will create a fresh file with default settings the next time you open the game.

The software runs in a window by default. Press Alt and Enter at the same time to switch to full-screen mode. Press these keys again to return to windowed mode.

📁 File structure

The folder contains several items:

  • ZeldaTP.exe: The application file to launch the game.
  • readme.txt: Text version of this guide.
  • /textures: Place custom image files here to replace game textures.
  • /saves: This folder stores your game progress. Backup this folder if you want to save your progress elsewhere.
  • /logs: This folder stores data if the game encounters an error. You can examine this if you need technical support.
