Since 2006, I've been building software professionally โ 20 years deep in PHP, with solid experience in JavaScript along the way. These days I work primarily with Symfony, focused on backend architecture and systems that need to hold up under real-world load, including some time spent keeping high-traffic systems stable under pressure. Along the way, I've also picked up a few years of experience managing teams, which keeps me equally comfortable in the code and in the planning around it.
Senior Backend Engineer, working mainly in PHP/Symfony โ designing and building backend systems, APIs, and the infrastructure around them, with a focus on scalability for high-traffic environments.
- Languages: PHP, JavaScript
- Backend: Symfony
- Also comfortable with: React (from earlier projects, still happy to jump back in when needed)
I like a good challenge, and I like picking up new technologies when they solve a real problem โ not just because they're trendy.
One thing 20 years in this field has taught me: always double-check every facet of a project. Even after two decades, it's easy to trip up โ staying humble about that keeps the work honest.
Technical high school diploma, followed by a degree in Tecnologia em Software Livre (Free Software Technology). Open-source principles were baked into my education from day one.
I was part of the inaugural Open Source Week in Americana, where I got to meet several well-known figures in the open-source community, including the maintainer of Slackware Linux.
(A few projects I'm proud of โ check my pinned repos below for the latest.)
Outside of work, I'm usually gaming, listening to music, or tinkering with PC hardware to optimize my setup โ running Linux on pretty much everything I touch, work and personal alike. I've got a genuine soft spot for open-source software of all kinds.
Open to interesting PHP/Symfony work and good conversations. Find me on LinkedIn โ always up for talking tech, backend architecture, or the best RPGs out there.
