Why

OG images are small (1200×630, often with baked-in unfurl text). Stretched into a full-width landing hero they look low-res and awkward. Featuring it as the visual was the wrong call.

Change

  • Remove the visible .hero banner from the Default template.
  • The page now leads with the brand icon/logo + derived palette + title (the brand-led layout).
  • The OG image still drives social unfurls via og:image / twitter:image meta tags — only the on-page hero is removed.

Tests

  • Repurposed the Phase 1 hero test → resolve_landing_keeps_og_image_meta_without_visible_hero: asserts og:image (with the URL) is present but there's no class="hero".
  • fmt clean, resolve suite green (42). Full cargo test post-push per the CI-ordering rule.
