What Is an ESign Certificate?

An ESign certificate is used to sign compatible IPA files before they are installed on an iPhone or iPad.

A standard certificate package normally includes:

File	Purpose
`.p12`	Contains the signing certificate
`.mobileprovision`	Contains the provisioning profile
Password file	Contains the password required to import the `.p12` file

The certificate and provisioning profile must be compatible with each other.

A successfully imported certificate does not guarantee that every IPA file will work. Some applications require special entitlements or capabilities.

How to Download a Certificate

Open AppleJR.net.
Locate the navigation menu.
Select the Certs section.
Choose an available certificate package.
Download the ZIP file.
Open the downloaded file in the iOS Files app.
Extract the ZIP archive.
Confirm that the package contains the required certificate files.

How to Import a Certificate

After downloading and extracting the certificate package:

Open ESign.
Open the File tab.
Import the .p12 certificate.
Import the .mobileprovision profile.
Select the imported certificate file.
Enter the provided certificate password.
Confirm the import.
Check that the certificate appears inside ESign.

The imported certificate may display:

Certificate name
Team identifier
Expiration date
Provisioning information
Certificate status

How to Sign an IPA File

Open ESign.
Import the IPA file.
Open the Apps section.
Select the imported application.
Tap Signature.
Select the imported certificate.
Adjust the application name if needed.
Adjust the bundle identifier if needed.
Tap Signature again.
Wait for the signing process to finish.
Select the signed application.
Tap Install.

Only install IPA files from sources you trust and have permission to use.

Certificate Password

The password may be stored in one of these files:

Certificate Password.txt

If the password is rejected:

Remove spaces before or after the password.
Check uppercase and lowercase characters.
Confirm that the password belongs to the selected .p12 file.
Make sure the ZIP archive was extracted completely.
Download the certificate package again.
Do not use a password from another certificate.

Troubleshooting

Certificate Failed to Import

Check that:

The .p12 file is not corrupted.
The password is correct.
The certificate package has been extracted.
The provisioning profile matches the certificate.
The certificate has not expired.
Files from different packages were not mixed.

Unable to Install App

This error may occur when:

The certificate has been revoked.
The provisioning profile has expired.
The IPA file is corrupted.
The application requires unsupported entitlements.
Another version of the application is already installed.
The bundle identifier conflicts with another installed application.

Possible solutions:

Delete the existing version of the app.
Restart the iPhone or iPad.
