fix: 🔒 Sanitize logged host and session values for CodeQL - #1616
Client-controlled host values and session ids now pass through a log sanitizer the CodeQL log-injection query recognizes, closing the flows that re-raised alerts on every PR touching those lines. Session ids are also cut at their source, where validation already bounds them. The clear-text-logging alerts on the session id are resolved with a scoped, reasoned suppression, since the query flags the id as a header-derived credential while it is in the log deliberately as the operator's attribution key.
Proxy and request-processing logs sanitize host, path, method, and other request-derived values, replacing control characters and removing line breaks while preserving the logged fields.
Returned session IDs no longer contain newline or carriage-return characters.
Session event logs sanitize host values before including them in debug output.

Walkthrough
The change adds SanitizeLogValue and applies it to selected host, path, method, and bridge-key values in proxy logs. It removes newline and carriage-return characters from validated session IDs and sanitizes event hosts in session-store logs. A CodeQL configuration comment is revised; configuration behavior does not change.

Summary
Sanitizer and tests core/pipeline/client.go, core/pipeline/client_test.go
Adds SanitizeLogValue, which sanitizes control runes and removes newline and carriage-return characters. Tests check ordinary text and control characters.
Applies SanitizeLogValue to selected host, path, method, requested-host, and bridge-key values in forward-proxy and transparent-proxy logs.
Other proxy log call sites core/listener/extproc/server.go, core/listener/internal/bodyread/bodyread.go, core/listener/reverseproxy/server.go
Applies SanitizeLogValue to selected host and path values before logging them.
Session values and CodeQL annotations core/session/idheader.go, core/session/store.go, core/session/archive/archive.go, .github/codeql/codeql-config.yml
IDHeaderFrom removes newline and carriage-return characters after validation. Session-store logs sanitize event hosts and add attribution comments and CodeQL annotations. The CodeQL configuration comment changes, with no configuration behavior change.
rossoctl/cortex#1621 — Identifies log-injection concerns for client-controlled host and path values in plugin logs and requests pipeline.SanitizeLogValue, which this PR adds and uses for related logging flows.

The change is mergeable with owner awareness: confirm that the completed CodeQL scan has no remaining host-logging alerts. No log-forgery issue was established in the archive path.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes remain connected to the linked security objectives. SanitizeLogValue and its test provide the shared behavior. The extproc, transparent-proxy, reverse-proxy, body-read, and additional forward-proxy changes protect related client-controlled log values with the same sanitizer. The CodeQL comments document the intentional session-ID attribution logs. No unrelated behavior or public API change is shown.

SanitizeLogValue puts the strings.ReplaceAll calls inside a helper, but the forward-proxy source states that CodeQL does not see through custom sanitizers and requires the marker in the sink's function. The helper call at line 584 can therefore remain tainted to go/log-injection.
Apply the same sink-local marker to other reported helper-only sinks, or add a CodeQL sanitizer model for SanitizeLogValue.

Summary
The change does what it says. SanitizeLogValue puts the two strings.ReplaceAll markers CodeQL recognizes after SanitizeControlRunes, and it is applied to every client-controlled host and path that reaches slog in the listeners. The session id is cut at its source in IDHeaderFrom, which is a no-op after validHeaderSessionID. The evidence holds up: alerts 324, 325 and 326 (go/log-injection) and 327 (go/clear-text-logging) all show as fixed on the merge ref, and the latest Go analysis (f034e4a) reports 0 results. The hot path also stays allocation-free, because strings.ReplaceAll returns s unchanged when nothing matches. I checked out the head and ran the tests: go test ./pipeline/ ./session/ ./listener/... passes locally. I found nothing blocking, only three small follow-ups inline.
Not in scope, as a heads-up: pctx.Host and pctx.Path still reach slog unsanitized in a few plugins (a2aparser, cost/settle, ibac, sparc, tokenexchangeaiac). pctx.Path is r.URL.Path, so a %0A decodes to a real newline there. These lines will light up the same way the next time a PR touches them, so they might be worth adding to #1612's list.

suggestion: host was already fenced at L1612 with strings.ReplaceAll(pipeline.SanitizeControlRunes(r.Host), "\n", ""), so it is now sanitized twice in this function. Also, this PR contradicts the comment at L1601-1611 ("A helper would put it back inside a callee — do not lift it"). SanitizeLogValueis such a helper, and alerts 324-326 closing shows CodeQL follows it. The 6cae5d1 experiment most likely failed because of SanitizeControlRunes's early return s fast path, which gives the query an unsanitized path; SanitizeLogValue runs ReplaceAll unconditionally. I'd suggest host := pipeline.SanitizeLogValue(r.Host) at L1612, dropping the inner wrap here, and rewriting the comment so the next reader isn't told the opposite of what the code now relies on. got at L1631 could use the helper too.

suggestion: these two cases embed a raw ESC byte (0x1B) and a raw U+009B in the source literals. They render invisibly in editors and the GitHub UI: "esc[2j" looks identical to its expected value. They also make gh pr diff refuse to print without --allow-escape-sequences, and the C1 CSI can act on a terminal that cats or git diffs the file. Please spell them as escapes, the way the existing case at L546 does: {"esc\x1b[2J", "esc\uFFFD[2J"}, {"c1\u009b", "c1\uFFFD"}. Writing \uFFFD instead of a literal in the wants would make the expectations readable too.

nit: the suppression works (alert 327 shows as fixed), and the reasoning is written down where it belongs. One note: #1533 also listed the archive rename log (core/session/archive/archive.go, the from/to ids at ~L357) and the affinity path, and those have no suppression. The source-side ReplaceAll in IDHeaderFrom covers log-injection everywhere, but go/clear-text-logging could still reappear there when a future PR touches those lines. If it does, the same one-line codeql[go/clear-text-logging] comment is the fix. Maybe mention it in #1533 so "fixed by suppression" doesn't read as complete.
