This issue is the intake queue for user-observable changes that may ship in dotnet-inspect 0.27.0. It is not the release manifest: the exact shipped commit determines release membership.
Before an implementing pull request or stack merges, add a short comment describing its user-observable change and link the implementation for details.
When implementation suggests that a release-managed central file is stale, add a concise reconciliation suggestion with the implementing pull request or stack link. Central-file suggestions are maintenance input, not release-note candidates.
When preparing 0.27.0, the release agent will:
Create the tracker for the next release and update agent guidance to point to its actual issue number.
Reconcile every release-managed central file from suggestions on both trackers whose implementing changes are ancestors of the proposed release commit.
Write the 0.27.0 release notes from candidate comments and linked implementations on both trackers. Include changes by their relationship to the selected release SHA, never by tracker placement.
Recheck both trackers immediately before dispatch. If a late comment identifies an earlier qualifying implementation, correct the notes or central file as applicable and select a replacement release commit.
After every coordinated publication surface succeeds, comment on the successor tracker with the 0.27.0 release URL and exact shipped SHA. Changes at or before that commit shipped in 0.27.0; later changes remain candidates for the next release.
Before closing this tracker, copy or link every still-eligible entry whose implementation is not an ancestor of the shipped SHA to the successor. Preserve the original entry.
Resolve exact Calls Count overloads from metadata #9841 — Demand-shaped exact-member Calls --count resolves same-name overload groups from metadata before sparse-Type fallback; exact-head NativeAOT medians improve representative CoreLib overloads by 16–20% with neutral fallback behavior.
Add Library structural resource explanation #8002 added dotnet-inspect explain <resource-path> and merged as 41b70c67f44ca0527fdcd92576114598131d872f, which is already an ancestor of the prospective 0.26.0 release commit.
By maintainer direction, 0.26.0 release notes and release-managed central-document reconciliation will not cover this feature. The implementation will therefore be physically present but intentionally undisclosed in the 0.26.0 release artifacts; 0.27.0 owns its release-note and documentation adoption work. Preserve that distinction when preparing 0.27.0 rather than claiming the implementation first shipped there.
Release-managed shipped-skill reconciliation: #8166 updates every embedded SKILL.md that still taught the removed timeline command to use diff --history, including full-population, explicit-checkpoint, and adaptive-bisection policy. It also removes the obsolete Type/Member --bare decompiler guidance in favor of native output by default and explicit --markdown framing. This is maintenance input for the 0.26.0 preparation, not a separate product release-note candidate.
CLI output grammar candidate for 0.27.0: #7946 replaces the Boolean presentation switches (--json, --jsonl, --markdown, --plaintext, --table, and --tsv) with long-only --format <FORMAT>, and restores conventional -o/--output <PATH> destination semantics. Explicit format selection takes precedence over verbosity and DOTNET_INSPECT_FORMAT; standalone Mermaid remains distinct from the Markdown --mermaid modifier.
Release-managed central-file reconciliation for #7946: update root README.md, docs/overview.md, embedded skills/**/SKILL.md, and release notes to teach --format <FORMAT> instead of the removed Boolean presentation switches, while retaining -o/--output <PATH> as destination syntax. The implementing PR now leaves those release-managed files unchanged; this comment is maintenance input for release preparation.
PR #8153 updates the Workspace CLI to workspace packet encode|decode, workspace component list, and immutable workspace package add|update|remove using emitted canonical Package paths. During 0.27.0 release reconciliation, update README.md and the shipped skills/dotnet-inspect/SKILL.md to replace the retired workspace-state route and positional --replace-package N --to-version ... examples. Those release-managed files are intentionally unchanged by #8153.
Inspect Web keyboard fix: #8169 makes Tab and Shift+Tab from the Application menu follow native document order, skipping controls outside the Tab sequence and preserving document-boundary traversal. First targeted slice for #8160; no central product-guide or shipped-skill reconciliation is needed for this existing-behavior fix.
PR #8152 preserves owner-issued source disposition and completion evidence through QuerySpace-backed section Rows, keeps useful partial rows visible, and prevents incomplete or unavailable populations from becoming exact Count. This completes step 7 of #6761 for the initial Relations path.
PR #8177 adopts target-bound PlatformHouse catalogs for versionless bare CLI type/member routing. It selects the highest eligible installed runtime at or above stable 10.0.1, keeps package fallback lazy and source-configured, projects exact assembly/runtime identity, and retires all transferred authorities before publishing the route result.
Carried forward from the 0.26.0 tracker to the current release: #8140 remains
open and unmerged.
Production House adoption: #8140 makes authored member --print --part ... --markdown frame the selected source part instead
of ignoring Markdown. Native output remains the default; environment Markdown,
explicit plaintext/JSON precedence, exact selection, and the existing
part-record JSON schema are preserved.
Its review repair also honors the existing -v:* Markdown selection across
the shared source-print callers, without changing native defaults or explicit
plaintext/JSON precedence.
Release-time central-guide suggestion: add an authored-part --markdown
example near the root README's member-parts guidance and reconcile any relevant
shipped query/source skill examples. No central release-managed files are
changed by this focused #8057 slice.
PR #8182 corrects Metadata-owned api.member declaration findings so each local extension method is emitted once on its declaring static type. Receiver-attached discovery remains available to member presentation, extension-to-instance soft correspondence remains intact, and Finding Transition/Diff History censuses stop double-counting affected methods. No release-managed central documentation or shipped skill changes are needed.
PR #8183 exposes the explicit Library Metrics section for the Library command, rendering the Research-owned whole-library metrics report over Analysis implementation-profile evidence.
Inspect Web package-member documentation now consumes one combined documentation outcome: compiled XML remains usable while authored-source availability, failure, incompleteness, and future corroboration/conflict evidence retain typed transport semantics. The shipped browser does not yet issue physical-declaration authority; Adopt authored documentation in Inspect Web #8155 remains open for that separately designed production path. Adopt combined documentation outcomes in Inspect Web #8161
User-visible Inspect Web fix ready in #8180: preserve the Platform catalog history entry when opening Workspace, with Back/Forward, refresh, failure, supersession, and focus behavior covered by production-path browser gates.
Performance adoption: #8186 adds the first measured QuerySpace compiler-acceleration kernel. Graph Libraries exact Count executes from captured source cardinality for predicate-free unordered Head/Tail/Window plans while Rows and unsupported Count retain the reference path.
PackageHouse adoption: #9995 routes explicit and durable package Root acquisition through one exact House compile realization, consumes the owner-issued receipt without repeated payload or asset selection, preserves producer and target identity, and applies ranged ZIP acquisition without retaining partial entry state. Exact-head NativeAOT evidence is latency/RSS neutral, reduces observed Root socket receive bytes by 82%, and keeps the complete Avalonia package-update workflow neutral.
CLI adoption slice 9 is in #9999: package query --explain -Q depends,dependency-target selects records from the shared model before assembly, retains required context and registered binding rules, and makes no package-source requests. Standalone discovery now derives its summary from route/binding registration. Missing producer-owned guidance is separately tracked in #9998. Browser admission remains the planned tenth slice; 8/10 are merged.
#10002: package acquisition reuses NuGet global-packages entries for nuget.org and other credential-free HTTP feeds again, not only for local feeds. An entry is used when its .nupkg.metadata source is that same feed. Endpoints that differ only in a query or path secret stay separate, and credentialed feeds still read none. A warm ~/.nuget/packages now serves House-based commands such as diff --history with no downloads: with an empty app cache, about 0.3–0.5 s instead of 0.9–1.1 s for Newtonsoft.Json 13.0.1..13.0.3, NativeAOT, with byte-identical output.
PR #10003: #10003
Tracking #9625. The shared classic inverse now reconstructs RC1
Utf8JsonWriter.FlushAsync Full, preserving conditional awaits, field reset,
branch effects and property writes. The original exact Body Shapes query skips
three bodies instead of four. Two product whole-member fixture compile-backs
are Exact; runtime naming-only OperandDiff and structural/PDB limits remain
visible. Original source is included. Local build/focused/fast/harness gates
pass; CI and fixed-head review remain pending. No release-managed files edited.
Browser adoption slice 10 is in #10005: engine.package.explainPackageQuery(path, facetKeys) returns shared selected query-reading data with required context and registered Browser syntax/exposure. HAL is natural; explicit direct JSON uses the same selection. The generated facade uses nullable native string-array marshalling and ordinary worker transport, without query planning, acquisition, or workspace mutation. The UI control catalog retains its distinct consumer. 9/10 slices are merged; #9998 remains separate producer guidance work. CI, final evidence and review are in flight.
Authored by Codex using the repository steward skill.
Member Metrics exact-family performance: #10006 carries the selected TypeDef token into Analysis and projects only that participant TypeDef for ordinary overload families instead of rebuilding the whole compatibility API surface. Extension families retain the compatibility route. Exact output is unchanged; diagnostic local CoreCLR median improved from 3.315s to 2.220s, with accepted NativeAOT evidence pending.
depends -S Pruning now applies the library pruning policy to application-authored references (#9981): #10017. A restored net10.0 app that references System.Text.Json 8.0.5 reports PlatformDelegation with reason ApplicationAuthored, instead of NotEvaluated.
Release tracking: #10023 retires the Type-side transitional inspection naming collision. It distinguishes the final public TypeDocument producer from the reusable TypeSubjectInspection* substrate while preserving execution and serialized contracts. #10023
PR #9992 makes decompiler validity reports disclose unresolved out-call assignment context as explicit coverage unavailable, retaining raw compiler diagnostics. Genuine skipped-call defects remain failures. This is harness/reporting evidence precision; it supplies no new product compilation success or native fidelity gain.
The PR routes explicit and durable package Root acquisition through
PackageHouse, preserves exact owner-issued selection evidence and caller
identity, applies ranged ZIP central-directory acquisition, and keeps host
cache and fallback policy explicit.
Proposed release entry for #10030: vocabulary .data and .hal responses now use compact vocabulary-reading/v1. Direct values are keyed by native identity with explicit owner order; HAL embeds vocabularies and their values. Selected meanings, map declarations, sparse flags/groups/defaults and exact term context are preserved. Repeated member navigation and automatic contract links are removed from this reading profile; ordinary compact and explicit .contract remain available. Existing jq scripts that depend on the previous selected shape must adapt. The release-owned skill text needs updating before packaging: skills/query/SKILL.md must read vocabulary values under each ._embedded.vocabularies[] resource's ._embedded.values, and retain scope (profile/completeness), replacing its old root-values/data_scope recipe. skills/dotnet-inspect/SKILL.md must retain scope for query-preparation/v1 and vocabulary-reading/v1. No narrowing gesture is shipped by this slice. These exact edits are proposed here under docs/repository-workflow.md#documentation-ownership and taste/skill-guidance.md; this feature PR does not edit release-managed skills. CLI/Browser value-selection admission follows #10015/#10016.

PR #9995 has advanced to Round 6 exact head e06e4a1544a82a493fff276418f744ef4b33059f.
The candidate preserves original caller target intent across House-contributed
and API-match Root binding, including owner-default nested-only token
reopening. Release build and focused Root, binding, and compile-realization
gates pass. Current-head CI and the six-round boundary checkpoint remain
pending.
