Overview

This pull request resolves module compatibility issues, OpenCode free-tier gateway validation requirements, dynamic live model discovery, protocol routing, zero-configuration public key support, and Pi-Bolt Ahead-of-Time (AOT) optimizations.

Changes

1. Fix Extension Import Resolution (9c650f2)

   • Import anthropicMessagesApi, googleGenerativeAIApi, openAICompletionsApi, and openAIResponsesApi directly from @earendil-works/pi-ai/compat.
   • Resolves Cannot find module '@earendil-works/pi-ai/api/anthropic-messages.lazy' on Pi runtimes.

2. Satisfy OpenCode Free-Tier Gate & Verification (febf6ca)

   • Implement canonical session and request token generation (canonicalId).
   • Merge required headers: User-Agent: opencode/1.18.31, x-opencode-client: cli, x-opencode-session, and Accept: text/event-stream.
   • Inject required OpenCode core tools (bash and read) into system context (ensureOpencodeGateTools).
   • Resolves 403: {"type":"FreeTierError","message":"OpenCode's free tier can only be used from within OpenCode"}.

3. Dynamic Model Discovery with Offline Cache & Resilient Timeout (6f2dc29, 14a67da)

   • Dynamically checks the live OpenCode Zen API and models.dev on startup with a bounded 3-second timeout.
   • Persists discovered models to local cache (~/.pi/agent/cache/opencode-zen-models.json) to guarantee reliable startup even when offline.
   • Exposes refreshModels hook for on-demand catalog refreshes.

4. Zero-Configuration Automatic Public Key Default (14a67da)

   • For new users who install without pre-configured keys, automatically defaults to apiKey = 'public'.
   • Seamlessly uses custom keys if supplied via OPENCODE_API_KEY, ~/.pi/agent/auth.json, or --api-key.

5. Pi-Bolt Ahead-of-Time (AOT) Optimisations & Manifest (603b313, 14a67da)

   • Added plugins.ts manifest conforming to InlineExtension[] for compiling directly into Pi-Bolt binaries (scripts/build-pi.sh --plugins plugins.ts).
   • Hoisted TypeBox schemas and gate tools to frozen module-level constants.
   • Enforced uniform monomorphic object shapes for JSC inline caches.

6. Dynamic Protocol Routing for Meta Muse Spark Series (571aff1)

   • Route muse-spark-* models to the openai-responses protocol endpoint (/zen/v1/responses).

7. Documentation & Install Guide (14f2439, b73e887)

   • Updated README.md with installation instructions, Pi-Bolt compilation guide, and configuration examples.

Verification

• npm run check passes cleanly (typecheck, lint, prettier).
• Verified live on Pi and Pi-Bolt (darwin-arm64, JIT off) across multiple models:
  • big-pickle (openai-completions)
  • muse-spark-1.3-contributor-free (openai-responses)
  • Clean environment simulation without pre-configured key: automatically defaults to public and executes live inference.

Reopening PR: Module compatibility, free-tier gate validation, dynamic model discovery, and protocol routing fixes have now been implemented, tested live on Pi 1.1.0, and verified.
