plugin-message-debug

A Fabric client mod for Minecraft 26.1 that logs the plugin messages (custom payload packets) the client receives from the server and sends to it.

Each message is one line with its direction, channel and content:

[PMDBG] S→C channel=minecraft:brand len=… str="…"
[PMDBG] C→S channel=example:channel len=0

The content is the decoded payload as text (its toString, escaped on one line). A channel the client has no codec for (most plugin channels) arrives as a discarded payload: only its channel is known, logged with len=0.

Config

config/plugin-message-debug.properties, created at first start: output=CHAT (the default: chat and the log) or output=CONSOLE (the log only). Mod Menu has a toggle for it.

The formatter has a small test that needs no Minecraft:
