CI wall-clock time is dominated by waiting for runners (jobs run 2–4 min but sit queued for up to ~26 min), so each job we drop frees a slot and its ~30–40s of per-job setup.

The 3.14 flake (~20s) and rust (~80s) jobs are both short, so this runs them as NOXSESSION: "flake, rust" in a single job, following the existing "rust, tests" pattern.

  • nox gives each session its own virtualenv/env, so the coverage RUSTFLAGS from rust don't affect flake.
  • nox continues past a failing session, so both results are still reported.
  • The step conditions in the job compare against exactly 'flake'/'rust', so llvm-tools-preview is still installed (needed by rust); test vectors now get fetched too, which is harmless and takes ~1s.
  • The cache key includes the session name, so the first run will build Rust dependencies cold.

The 3.9 flake job is unchanged.

Both finish in well under two minutes, so running them as separate
jobs mostly pays per-job setup and an extra queue slot. nox runs
each session in its own virtualenv and continues past a failing
session, so both results are still reported.
