Feature request
It would be very useful if Music Assistant search results in Sonos Card showed which music provider each result comes from.
Use case
I am using Sonos Card with Music Assistant and have multiple music providers configured, specifically:
The Search section works very well and returns results from both providers in the same list. However, there is currently no visible indication in the Sonos Card search results showing whether a result came from Spotify or YouTube Music.
This becomes especially confusing when the same song, album, or artist exists on both providers. For example, a search may return multiple versions of the same U2 track, but there is no way to tell which result is Spotify and which is YouTube Music before selecting it.
This matters for a few reasons:
- Different providers may have different audio quality.
- A user may intentionally prefer one provider over another.
- Some tracks, live versions, remixes, etc. may only exist on one provider.
- Duplicate-looking search results become difficult to distinguish.
- With more than two Music Assistant providers configured, this problem becomes even more noticeable.
Current behavior
With a configuration similar to:

For example, the list can contain:

but there is no visible indication such as:
Provider information appears to be available
Home Assistant's music_assistant.search action returns provider-specific media information.
For example, search results can contain URIs such as:
spotify--...://track/...
ytmusic--...://track/...
So the provider identity is available in the Music Assistant search data even though Sonos Card currently does not expose it visually.
Suggested behavior
A small provider indicator on each Music Assistant search result would solve the problem.
For example:
With Or Without You Spotify
Beautiful Day YouTube Music
Or preferably a compact provider icon/badge, especially on mobile:
With Or Without You [Spotify icon]
Beautiful Day [YouTube Music icon]
The exact visual implementation is of course up to the maintainer. A few possibilities:
- small provider icon on the right side of each result
- small text badge (
Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.)
- icon + provider name
- provider shown as secondary metadata beneath the title
The main requirement is simply that the source provider can be identified before selecting/playing the result.
List and grid views
Ideally this would work in both search-result layouts:
On mobile, a small icon would probably be enough to avoid adding clutter.
Multiple provider mappings
If Music Assistant returns an item that is mapped to multiple providers, it would also be useful to handle that gracefully.
Possible approaches could be:
- show multiple provider badges when multiple mappings are known, or
- show the provider/source that will actually be used when the item is selected.
I do not have a strong preference here; even showing the primary/result provider would already be a significant improvement over the current behavior.
Optional configuration
If the extra information is considered too visually busy for everyone, this could also be configurable, for example:
search:
showProvider: true
I would personally expect provider identification to be useful by default when multiple Music Assistant providers are configured, but making it optional would also be completely reasonable.

Why I think this fits Sonos Card
Music Assistant search is already a very useful Sonos Card feature, especially because it can search across multiple providers at once.
Once multiple providers are enabled, though, identifying the source of each result becomes part of making that unified search practical. The search itself already works; this request is only about exposing enough metadata in the UI to make the results distinguishable.
