Release v1.0.0 #86

School Bell is functionally ready for its first stable release. The scheduled bell, GPIO relays, WAVE-key-specific relay selection, manual trigger, remote triggers, monitoring and documentation have been tested, including validation on the target hardware.

Release checklist

Code and integration

• Merge all changes intended for v1.0.0 into main
• Confirm issue Add WAVE-key-specific relay outputs #84 is included
• Create release/1.0.0 from the latest main
• Confirm the working tree contains no unintended changes
• Review backward compatibility for existing buzz_gpio configurations

Automated validation

• Run the complete test suite
• Build the Sphinx documentation with warnings treated as errors
• Validate demo.json
• Validate ansible/files/schema.json
• Perform a clean installation using the supported Python versions
• Confirm the generated JSON Schema includes the final configuration contract

Hardware validation

• Verify scheduled playback
• Verify the existing single local/manual trigger
• Verify legacy buzz_gpio relay operation
• Verify WAVE-key-specific relay selection
• Verify audio-only WAVE keys
• Verify active-high and active-low relay outputs
• Verify safe relay states during startup, failure and shutdown
• Verify --check remains non-operational
• Verify --test exercises every configured relay independently

Documentation and operations

• Finalize the v1.0.0 changelog
• Review installation, configuration, GPIO and troubleshooting documentation
• Confirm HTTPS termination remains documented as an external reverse-proxy responsibility
• Confirm NTP/time synchronization remains documented as an operating-system responsibility
• Review the example and Ansible configurations
