Threads, now a podcast.
Reddit is read for the comments. ThreadCast turns the thread into audio you listen to like a podcast, with a distinct voice for every commenter, neural voices that run entirely on your device, and a sleep mode that fades to silence.

- A voice for every commenter. A username hashes deterministically to a voice, so the same person sounds the same in every thread, every session. A thread plays like a cast of characters, not a wall of text. It is the feature people mention first.
- Four on-device TTS engines. From instant system voices up to an eleven-voice WebGPU model. Audio is generated as you listen and never leaves your device.
- Sleep mode. Ten ambient tracks and a fade-to-silence timer (15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, or end of queue), playing on with the screen off and the phone locked.
- Private by default. No account, no analytics SDK, nothing you read or hear leaves your device. The privacy policy is deliberately short.
- Save as MP3. Turn any thread into offline audio, rendered on-device from the same neural voices.
- Share to ThreadCast (Android). Share a Reddit post in from any app and it opens in the reader, ready to play.
- Built to be heard. Labelled controls, spoken now-playing announcements, made for Android TalkBack. Some of our most engaged users are blind.
The Reddit reader is free on every surface. Premium ($4.99/month, $39/year, or $99 lifetime, $69 for the first 100) adds the on-device AI neural voices and MP3 export, and never removes anything.
