Srtly - Mac OS Folder Organizer

This simple AppleScript-based Mac Os App helps you automatically organize files in your chosen folder (like Downloads or Desktop) into neat, categorized subfolders — such as Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, Compressed Archives, Codes & Scripts, Folders(existing folders), and Other.

How to Use

1. Download the repo zip file from this repository
2. Follow the 'instructions.txt'
3. Run Srtly. *If an error occurs, or popup stating "This application cannot be opened or verified - scroll to the bottom of the page for instructions¹.
4. Select the folder you want to sort (Downloads or Other).
5. Let it do the organizing for you.
6. Enjoy a tidier digital space!

[1] Note on Permissions:

_{If you encounter any permission issues, you'll have manually allow the app to open in your system settings (completely normal for opensource apps like this -- I didnt want to pay $99 apple developer fee to verify the app so its likely to occur).}

_{For macOS Sequoia, Tahoe, and Newer:}

_{1. Attempt to launch the application normally.}

_{2. You will see a warning stating that macOS "cannot verify that this app is free from malware". Click Done to close the message.}

_{3. Open your Mac's System Settings (Apple menu  > System Settings).}

_{4. Select Privacy & Security from the left sidebar.}

_{5. Scroll down to the Security section on the right side.}

_{6. Look for the message stating your app was blocked, and click the Open Anyway button.}

_{7. Enter your Mac password or use Touch ID to confirm. Click Open Anyway one last time if prompted.}

_{For macOS Sonoma, Ventura, and Older:}

_{1. Open your Finder app and locate the downloaded app file.}

_{2. Right-click (or hold the Control key and click) on the application icon.}

_{3. Select Open from the drop-down context menu.A warning dialog will appear.}

_{4. Instead of blocking you, it will now feature an explicit Open button. Click it to save a permanent security exception for this app.}

_{Why is this required?}

_{Apple's built-in security system, Gatekeeper, automatically blocks files downloaded from the internet if they haven't been "Notarized" (audited and signed with an encrypted ID) by Apple. This security check prevents unknown malware from executing automatically. For small open-source utilities or indie macapps, developers simply don't have the resources to pay the yearly Apple developer fee, requiring users to manually grant an exception.}
