Void

Void logo

Void is a simple, no-nonsense terminal focus timer and task manager. Keyboard-driven, fast, and completely offline.

📸 Look & Feel

Dashboard — Your current timer, active task, and daily queue. Dashboard

Tasks — Priorities, tags, subtasks, and quick filtering. Tasks

Stats — Track your focus time, streaks, and recent activity. Stats

Zen Mode — Hide the noise. Focus only on the timer and your active task. Zen Mode

✨ What's inside?

  • Pomodoro Timer: Classic focus, short break, and long break intervals.
  • Task Queue: Keep track of what you're working on. Add tags, priorities, estimates, and subtasks.
  • Zen Mode: Hide the noise. Shows only the timer and your current task for deep focus.
  • Stats & History: Look back at your weekly charts, daily streaks, and everything you've completed.
  • Themes: Switch between dark, light, and a few custom color palettes built right in.
  • Offline First: Your data is yours. Everything lives in a standard SQLite database on your machine. No cloud accounts, no tracking.

📦 Install

Cargo (Recommended)

If you have Rust installed, just run:

cargo install void-focus

Binaries

You can also grab pre-compiled binaries for macOS, Linux, and Windows straight from the Releases page.

⌨️ How to use it

🎨 Custom Themes

Void supports completely custom themes via TOML files. Just drop a .toml file into your themes directory:

  • Linux: ~/.config/void/themes/
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/void/themes/
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\void\themes\

Here is an example cyber.toml theme:

name = "Cyberpunk"

[palette]
neon_pink = "#FF00FF"
neon_blue = "#00FFFF"
dark_bg = "#0B0B1A"
gray = "#333333"

[tokens]
bg = "dark_bg"
text = "#FFFFFF"
dim = "gray"
accent = "neon_pink"
on_accent = "#000000"
success = "neon_blue"
warning = "#FFFF00"
error = "#FF0033"
info = "neon_blue"
progress_dim = "gray"
task_track = "gray"
panel = "dark_bg"
panel_border = "neon_pink"
select_bg = "gray"
select_fg = "neon_pink"
active_bg = "gray"
active_fg = "neon_blue"

💾 Data Import & Export

Your data is always yours. Void makes it easy to back up, restore, or migrate your entire database.

Export

You can export your tasks, settings, and focus history to a JSON file at any time:

From the CLI:

# Export to the default location
void --export

# Export to a specific file
void --export ~/my_backup.json

From the app:

  • Press Ctrl-S at any time, or
  • Press e in the Settings tab

Import (Restore)

To restore a previous backup or migrate your data to a new machine:

void --import ~/my_backup.json

⚠️ Heads up: Importing will completely replace your current data with the contents of the backup file. You'll be asked to confirm before anything changes.
