Version(s):
main (in-development OpenShift 5.1). Still present in published 4.18-4.22 docs.

Issue:
https://issues.redhat.com/browse/OCPBUGS-55694

Link to docs preview:
Affected modules:

QE review:

  • QE has approved this change.

Additional information:
The vSphere static IP scaling docs mention IPAddressClaims without explaining that the installer-created IPPool is different from Whereabouts/Multus IPPool objects. The manual IPAddressClaim status patch is required for the default installer IPPool when no IPAM controller does the association, so that step is now marked Optional with that note.

Verified still present in OpenShift 4.22:

  • Published 4.22 post-installation node tasks still omit the installer IPPool vs Whereabouts distinction and still present the status patch as a required step.

Explain installer-created IPPool versus Whereabouts/Multus and mark the status patch as optional.

Hi @smunaval. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a openshift member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work.

Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.
