Updates hono from 4.12.26 to 4.12.34

v4.12.34

Security fixes

This release includes fixes for the following security issues:

memo() retains SSR output across requests, leading to cross-user data disclosure

Affects: hono/jsx (server-side rendering). Fixes memo() reusing a retained render result across requests when props compare equal, where a component reading request-scoped values from ambient context — useContext(), useRequestContext(), or getContext() — could serve HTML rendered for another user's request, disclosing account data or request-scoped secrets such as CSRF tokens. GHSA-f23p-vx2j-j53r

ReDoS in CORS middleware via Access-Control-Request-Headers

Affects: hono/cors. Fixes a whitespace-tolerant regular expression with quadratic backtracking used to parse the Access-Control-Request-Headers preflight header when allowHeaders is not configured (the default), where a single preflight request carrying a long whitespace run could consume seconds of CPU and stall request processing. GHSA-8j4g-w8fx-2239

Algorithmic complexity DoS in Language Middleware

Affects: hono/language. Fixes quadratic string processing in language-tag normalization, where a crafted language tag with a large number of hyphen-separated subtags — supplied via a query parameter, cookie, or Accept-Language header — could cause excessive CPU consumption and block the event loop. GHSA-54fx-42gc-7vw4

Proxy Helper does not remove response headers listed in the Connection header

Affects: hono/proxy. Fixes proxy() forwarding response headers that the origin's Connection header designates as connection-scoped, where headers intended only for the immediate peer — per RFC 9110 Section 7.6.1 — could be exposed to clients, disclosing connection-scoped or internal metadata. GHSA-79qm-7rj5-m7r9

Users who use hono/jsx for server-side rendering, hono/cors, hono/language, or hono/proxy are strongly encouraged to upgrade to this version.

7.1.0

Minor Changes

  • #17302 5f4dc03 Thanks @astrobot-houston! - Adds a new deferRender option to the glob() content loader

    When set to true, renderable entries (such as Markdown) are not rendered during content sync. Instead, rendering is deferred until the entry is actually rendered in a page, using the same on-demand path that .mdx files already use.

    This reduces memory usage during astro build for large collections whose rendered output is much larger than the source — for example, Markdown that uses heavy rehype plugins like rehype-katex. Such builds could previously run out of memory while storing the eagerly-rendered HTML for every entry.

    // src/content.config.ts
    import { defineCollection } from 'astro:content';
    import { glob } from 'astro/loaders';
    const docs = defineCollection({
    loader: glob({ pattern: '**/*.md', base: 'src/content/docs', deferRender: true }),
    });

    By default deferRender is false, preserving the existing behavior of rendering entries eagerly during sync so their rendered HTML can be cached across builds.

  • #17296 30698a2 Thanks @ematipico! - Adds a new experimental collectionStorage option for controlling how the content layer persists its data store

    By default, Astro serializes the entire content layer data store to a single file (.astro/data-store.json). For very large content collections, this file can grow large enough to hit platform file-size limits.

    Set experimental.collectionStorage: 'chunked' to instead split the data store across many smaller, content-addressed files inside a .astro/data-store/ directory, described by a manifest:

    // astro.config.mjs
    import { defineConfig } from 'astro/config';
    export default defineConfig({
    experimental: {
    collectionStorage: 'chunked',
    },
    });

    Because each part file is named by a hash of its contents, unchanged parts keep the same name across builds and are not rewritten, and identical parts are deduplicated. The default value is 'single-file', which preserves the current behavior.

  • #17214 44c4989 Thanks @ematipico! - Adds support for the more specific CSP directives script-src-elem, script-src-attr, style-src-elem, and style-src-attr through a new kind option.

    Previously, CSP was only scoped to generic script-src/style-src directives. Now each source or hash can be scoped to a narrower directive — for example, to allow inline style attributes (such as those from define:vars or Shiki) without loosening the policy for your <style> and <link> elements.

P2 Badge Upgrade Astro integrations with Astro 7

This leaves the documentation toolchain outside every affected plugin's supported peer range: pnpm-lock.yaml records @astrojs/mdx@5.0.6, @astrojs/starlight@0.38.5, and starlight-llms-txt@0.8.1 as requiring astro: ^6.0.0 (lines 1047–1051, 1066–1069, and 9042–9046). Consequently, an install using --strict-peer-dependencies fails before the docs can build—the local pnpm install --help defines that option as “Fail on missing or invalid peer dependencies”—while ordinary installs run an unsupported major-version combination. Upgrade these integrations to Astro-7-compatible releases or retain Astro 6.
