Quest Home Switcher v1.8
Quest Home Switcher v1.8
Recommended download
Windows users: download
Quest-Home-Switcher-Setup-v1.8.exe. Do not download the raw APK unless you intentionally want to sideload it yourself.
The setup EXE already contains the permanently signed Quest Home Switcher APK. It guides normal users through device detection, Shizuku setup, app installation or update, Home import, and the optional Official Meta Home Library.
| Platform | Download |
|---|---|
| Windows 10/11 | Quest-Home-Switcher-Setup-v1.8.exe |
| Linux x64 | Quest-Home-Switcher-CLI-v1.8-linux-x64.tar.gz |
| Apple-silicon Mac | Quest-Home-Switcher-CLI-v1.8-macos-arm64.tar.gz |
| Intel Mac | Quest-Home-Switcher-CLI-v1.8-macos-x64.tar.gz |
| Manual sideload/root users only | Quest-Home-Switcher-v1.8.apk |
Linux and macOS use their own self-contained command-line packages, not the Windows EXE. Their archives already include the verified v1.8 APK and an install-switcher.sh helper. Android Platform Tools (adb) must be installed separately. The first CLI release does not perform Shizuku installation or pairing; unrooted users run it after Shizuku is already working on the headset.
Linux: Fish and other shells
install-switcher.sh uses /bin/sh, so it does not depend on your default shell. Fish users do not need to translate the script. From the extracted release folder, run:
chmod +x quest-home-switcher install-switcher.sh
sh ./install-switcher.shYou can also perform the same setup manually:
./quest-home-switcher doctor
./quest-home-switcher install-switcher ./Quest-Home-Switcher-v1.8.apk
./quest-home-switcher openIf ADB is not in PATH, pass it with --adb /path/to/adb.
Updating from v1.5, including the homes-v1.5.1 Library hotfix
- Existing Windows users can run their current setup and select UPDATE / OPEN SWITCHER after v1.8 is published. The updater verifies GitHub's published SHA-256 digest before opening the new setup.
- If the automatic setup update is unavailable, download
Quest-Home-Switcher-Setup-v1.8.exeonce from this release and run it directly. - The Android app updates in place because v1.8 uses the same permanent signing certificate. Home files and an existing Shizuku pairing remain untouched.
What changed
- Fixed duplicate Home cards when the same official Home exists as a personal import, an Official Library copy, or an installed Root package.
- Added canonical official-Home identity across known scene revisions, while unknown Custom Homes still merge only on exact scene identity.
- Added clear source labels for Root direct, Official Library, and Imported Homes.
- Strengthened Root detection: Root mode is accepted only after a real
uid=0result and no longer mistakes Android shell UID 2000 for root. - Root mode prefers a real installed environment package and safely falls back to the stock carrier scene only for active-state detection.
- Improved Shizuku/No-Root scanning and preserved active detection across corrected Library revisions.
- Setup now detects an identical APK anywhere under
Download/Quest Homesby exact SHA-256, avoids duplicate uploads, and never replaces personal imports. - Remote Home inventory is fail-closed when hashing is unavailable or malformed.
- The embedded offline Library keeps Futurescape and Mogu Hall disabled together with the other entries still awaiting safe Quest testing.
Linux and macOS preview
Version 1.8 adds a tested, dependency-free cross-platform setup core and self-contained CLI packages. They can:
- verify that the authorized ADB device is a Meta Quest;
- report Quest, Switcher, and Shizuku state;
- install the pinned v1.8 APK without any automatic uninstall;
- open Quest Home Switcher; and
- validate and safely import compatible Home APKs with atomic, hash-verified, no-clobber uploads.
The Linux/macOS release is a CLI preview, not yet the full Windows graphical setup. It does not install, pair, update, or start Shizuku. macOS packages are not Apple-notarized. A native cross-platform GUI remains planned for v2.0.
Shizuku and built-in Wireless ADB
- Root users still do not need Shizuku.
- Unrooted users still need Shizuku in v1.8.
- v1.8 contains only dormant security boundaries for a future built-in Wireless ADB backend. It has no network permission and is not connected to the UI or switching path.
- The Shizuku-free one-APK path will ship only after encrypted pairing, protocol, reboot, network-change, and real-Quest tests pass.

Quest Home Switcher 1.5
Quest Home Switcher 1.5 adds an optional online Official Meta Home Library while keeping setup simple and safe.
Download
- Quest-Home-Switcher-Setup-v1.5.exe — recommended guided Windows setup, update, Home import, and Library access.
- Quest-Home-Switcher-v1.5.apk — manual sideload for experienced or rooted users.
What is new
- Searchable online Home Library with 16 individually downloadable, device-tested Homes.
- Clear Not installed, Installed - up to date, Update available, and Coming soon states.
- Exact asset-name, size, GitHub digest, and pinned SHA-256 verification.
- Verified local cache plus rollback-safe atomic updates on the Quest.
- Personal Home imports are never overwritten or deleted.
- The setup preserves an already-running Shizuku server during an in-place update.
- Cascadia, Meta Horizon Terrace, Oceanarium, and Storybook remain safely unavailable until their individual builds pass testing.
The Library checks for catalog updates whenever it is opened. Home APK updates are never installed silently; the user selects and confirms every install or update.
Update directly from Setup
- Existing v1.1 users: Open the Setup you already have and select UPDATE / OPEN SWITCHER. After the verified download, confirm Open the updated setup now? to continue in v1.5.
- New users: Keep the Setup EXE and use UPDATE / OPEN SWITCHER for future verified Setup and Switcher updates. Download manually from GitHub only if the built-in update check cannot connect.
This optional update path checks only GitHub and the connected Quest. It does not start, stop, pair, update, or reconfigure Shizuku.

Official Home Library 1.5.1
Safety hotfix: Futurescape is temporarily disabled and its downloadable asset was removed after a device test found a Horizon Home reload loop.
Optional online Home Library for Quest Home Switcher 1.5.
- 15 currently downloadable, device-tested NoRoot-Spoof Home builds.
- Exact asset names, byte sizes, and SHA-256 hashes are pinned in the catalog.
- Quest Home Switcher Setup downloads only the Homes selected by the user.
- Cascadia, Futurescape, Meta Horizon Terrace, Oceanarium, and Storybook remain safely marked Coming soon until their device tests are complete.
- Personal Home imports are never overwritten or deleted by this managed Library channel.
This prerelease is a data channel for the Setup Library and intentionally remains separate from the final application update channel. Use the Official Home Library inside Quest Home Switcher Setup instead of manually downloading these assets.

Quest Home Switcher 1.1
Quest Home Switcher v1.1
Release date: 2026-07-14
Version 1.1 is a reliability hotfix for Home activation across different Meta Quest OS builds.
Main fix
Version 1.0 could report Verification failed even after Android installed the selected Home successfully. Some Quest builds publish the carrier package path late, return it through a different package-manager command, or report more than one APK path.
Version 1.1 now:
- polls for up to 20 seconds while Android publishes the installed carrier, without repeatedly hashing an unchanged large APK;
- supports known
pm pathandcmd package pathvariants; - checks every reported base or split APK path instead of trusting only the first path;
- compares the decompressed
assets/scene.zipSHA-256 exactly and case-insensitively; - repeats the same integrity check after Horizon Home reload; and
- records expected hash, observed hash, and package paths when verification genuinely fails.
Automatic rollback remains enabled. A readable single-APK Home is backed up and restored when installation or verification fails; split-package carriers safely fall back to Meta's installed system Home instead of creating an incomplete backup.
Other improvements
- More reliable Shizuku state refresh after startup and foreground changes.
- Home actions are serialized so refresh and activation cannot leave stale state behind.
- Setup 1.1 introduces a verified GitHub Release update path while retaining its embedded offline APK.
Updating from 1.0
The already-downloaded 1.0 setup cannot update its own program code retroactively. Download and run Quest-Home-Switcher-Setup-v1.1.exe once. Android updates the permanently signed 1.0 APK in place, preserving its app data and Shizuku permission. Later setup/APK updates can be checked from setup 1.1.
