Problem: mocha 12 requires Node.js 20.19+, so the Node.js 16/18 jobs fail: `SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'with'`. Solution: - Run the mocha suite only on Node.js that supports it. - On 16/18 run scripts/test-old.js: attaches to an embedded Nvim and does an RPC round-trip, so the built package is still exercised there. - Bump to mocha v12.
