Experience

  • Orbital and ground-level views rendered by a procedural Three.js engine.
  • 20 moments across 8 chapters, from T − 30 days to T + 66 Ma.
  • Guided storytelling or free exploration.
  • Three observers with distinct causal clocks.
  • Feel, Understand, and Verify interpretation lenses.
  • Low, central, and high climate scenarios.
  • Procedural audio, comfort mode, and keyboard/touch navigation.
  • Integrated methodology, uncertainty labels, and primary sources.
  • English and French interface, with English as the default.

The globe, biomes, and phenomena are stylized scientific visualizations. This project is neither a georeferenced paleomap nor a real-time hydrocode or climate model.

Experiment provenance

This project was created as an experiment to test GPT-5.6-Sol Ultra with parallel subagents and see what kind of complete 3D experience that setup could produce.

The full build took approximately 1 hour 50 minutes: 1 hour 44 minutes for the original experience, followed by about 6 minutes to add the complete English/French localization.

Development

Requirements: Node.js >=22.13.0.

npm install
npm run dev
npm run lint
npm test
npm run build

The site uses vinext/Cloudflare Sites, React 19, and Three.js. D1/R2 bindings remain disabled in .openai/hosting.json.
