CraftCrew is a local Rust program from which you drive the official ArtCraft apps
(VectorCraft, PhotoCraft, LightCraft, DesignCraft, EffectCraft, FilmCraft, FigCraft) installed from
DMGs. You write a prompt, and Claude Code and Codex, through your monthly subscription (never
the API), work directly in the apps through their control channel and MCP: they run commands,
take screenshots, transfer files from one app to another and run recipes across several
apps. The ArtCraft apps' code is never changed. The interfaces are the desktop app
craftcrew-app, the CLI craftcrew and the background process craftcrew daemon; the architecture and hard
rules are in docs/ARCHITECTURE.md.
⬇ Download CraftCrew for Mac (.dmg) — one app for Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or newer. (.zip · SHA256 · all releases)
Open the .dmg and drag CraftCrew onto Applications.
The app is not yet signed and notarized with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS blocks it the first time ("Apple could not verify “CraftCrew”…"). Click Done, then either open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the CraftCrew message, or run once:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/CraftCrew.app(The Terminal install below is not affected.) For the craftcrew command in Terminal (and MCP),
link it once:
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin && ln -sf /Applications/CraftCrew.app/Contents/MacOS/craftcrew ~/.local/bin/craftcrewcurl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mmuminovic/craftcrew/main/install.sh | shIt builds CraftCrew from source (installing Rust with rustup first if needed, after asking), puts
CraftCrew.app in /Applications (or ~/Applications) and the craftcrew command in
~/.local/bin. Run it again to update. Options go after sh -s --:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mmuminovic/craftcrew/main/install.sh | sh -s -- --mcp # also add it to Claude Code
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mmuminovic/craftcrew/main/install.sh | sh -s -- --uninstall(--ref <branch|tag>, --app-dir, --bin-dir, --yes; see install.sh --help.) Then sign in the
agents with your subscription — claude auth login and/or codex login — and run
craftcrew doctor.
How to use it: docs/GUIDE.md — what it is for, the desktop app, the CLI,
recipes, material folders, MCP, settings and troubleshooting.
craftcrew mcp is CraftCrew as an MCP server: your own Claude hands work to CraftCrew and follows
it, while CraftCrew's agents do the work in the apps. With craftcrew on your PATH
(cargo install --path apps/craftcrew):
claude mcp add craftcrew -- craftcrew mcpFor Claude Desktop, add to claude_desktop_config.json:
"craftcrew": {"command": "/Users/<you>/.cargo/bin/craftcrew", "args": ["mcp"]}.
Tools: apps_status, run_task (prompt, apps, folders with the material, agent, permission),

cargo xtask ci # fmt --check, clippy -D warnings, tests, layer check
cargo xtask layers # layer check only (who may depend on egui/eframe)
cargo run -p craftcrew -- --help # CLI from the working tree
cargo install --path apps/craftcrew # global `craftcrew` in ~/.cargo/bin
cargo xtask bundle # target/release/CraftCrew.app (with its icon and the CLI)
scripts/build-macos.sh # dist/: universal CraftCrew.app as .zip and .dmg, SHA256SUMS.txtcargo xtask ci must pass before the work is done. Tests don't use the subscription and
don't touch the real apps (see AGENTS.md).
The icon was drawn in VectorCraft itself, through its control channel: six dots in the colors of
the six ArtCraft apps on an orbit around a central hub — the crew CraftCrew conducts. Source:
assets/icon.svg; exports: assets/icon.png (1024 px), assets/icon-256.png
(the window icon) and assets/CraftCrew.icns (the .app bundle).
The disk image opens as a Finder window with the app, an arrow and Applications over
assets/dmg-background.svg (exported at 1x and 2x into
assets/dmg-background.tiff with tiffutil -cathidpicheck); cargo xtask bundle --dist has
Finder lay it out, so the first build asks to let the terminal control Finder.
