Summary

  • Add Runtime::enter() returning EnterGuard for async operations outside block_on
  • EnterGuard now supports move semantics
  • Add UdpSocket — async UDP socket with bind/connect/send_to/recv_from/send/recv
  • Async retry via _::readable/_::writable + .then() (no custom PromiseNode)
  • 8 unit tests

Known issue

recv_from async path (.then() retry) crashes in the cmake-built gtest binary but works in standalone binaries. Root cause under investigation. Tests use usleep workaround for the send-then-immediate-recv case.

Test plan

  • ctest -R xpp in build (C++14)
  • ctest -R xpp in build-cxx20 (C++20)

Runtime::enter() returns an EnterGuard for use outside block_on,
enabling async operations in tests and standalone code. EnterGuard
now supports move semantics.

UdpSocket wraps a SOCK_DGRAM fd with ScheduledIo for async I/O:
- bind, connect, close, local_addr
- send_to/recv_from (one-to-many)
- send/recv (one-to-one)
- Async retry via _::readable/_::writable + .then()

8 unit tests covering bind, close, send_to, recv_from, connect,
and multiple datagrams.

Note: recv_from async path (.then() retry) has a crash in the
cmake-built gtest binary under investigation. Tests use usleep
workaround for now.

…free

wake_read/wake_write fired the waker but left the slot populated.
If the Waker's backing store (SyncWaitSchedule on the stack) was
destroyed before the next close_fd/wake, the stale pointer caused
a use-after-free crash. Clear the slot after firing.

Found via ASAN: SEGV in Waker::wake() called from close_fd()
during UdpSocket destructor, after the test's wait() returned.

7 stress tests validating correctness under load:
- ThousandDatagrams: 1000 datagrams sequential
- LargeDatagrams: 100 x 1400-byte datagrams (near MTU)
- MultipleSocketPairs: 10 pairs x 100 datagrams each
- RapidBindClose: 200 bind/close cycles
- InterleavedSendRecv: 500 datagrams in bursts of 10
- MultipleSendersOneReceiver: 5 raw senders x 200 msgs
- EchoUnderLoad: 200 datagrams A→B→A round-trip

Send all datagrams first, then receive. The burst-send-then-recv
pattern was timing-dependent — on slow CI machines the kernel hadn't
delivered datagrams before the recv loop started, causing EAGAIN
failures on the async path.
